Acer's a growing force in the booming smartphone market, and while it
doesn't yet have a huge footprint in the United States, cranking out
phones like this can't hurt. Just a few months after the
Liquid A1 was announced, the Liquid e is being introduced in order to keep up with
the rapid pace of technological innovation. Where the A1 used Android
1.6, the new Liquid e comes equipped with the latest and greatest
version of Google's mobile OS:
Android 2.1 (Éclair).
This new phone still maintains the sleek, touch screen-based design and
comes with a 768MHz Qualcomm 8250 Snapdragon processor, 512MB of ROM,
256MB of RAM, a 5MP Autofocus camera, QVGA movie recording and a
spacious 3.5" WVGA display. There's also 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
2.0, GPU, a micro-SD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, accelerometer,
light sensor, proximity sensor and four main hard keys (Home, Search,
Back, Menu).
Android 2.1 brings about a few new things that the A1 missed out on,
including new home screens, quick contacts, live wallpapers, a new
keyboard layout and an updated web browser. There's also 3G support and
3D grapics, but there's no mention of a price or release date quite
yet. But something tells us that it'll be ready for Europe first given
that it was announced at Mobile World Congress in Spain.
