Kids React To Old Computers: Disgusted, Confused And Frustrated

Today's children are the key to a better tomorrow, and unless you're a curmudgeon, there's a distinct joy in watching little ones grow and blossom into the next generation of decision makers. It can be your own kids, your nieces and nephews, or ones you've met for the first time -- their innocent view of the world is heartwarming and takes us back to when we were their age. By that same token, their brutally honest nature sometimes hits like a gut punch, whether it's pointing out your bad breath (yes, you little demon, we skipped brushing this morning because we were running late, let's not announce it to the world, mmkay?) or making you feel incredibly old by reacting to the technology you grew up with.

It's the latter that was caught on video, uploaded to YouTube, and has since gone viral. The Fine Brothers created a video showing elementary school kids what computers were like before they were flattened out into tablet and smartphone devices -- you know, the ancient systems you used to play Oregon Trail on. Their reactions are priceless (and a bit depressing). In this instance, an Apple II.

Even turning on the PC is a mystery to these kids. They're perplexed at why nothing happens when they turn the monitor on, and even more confused when the Apple system loads to a command prompt rather than a screen full of apps. "I don't get it. And I also don't get the 1970s," one of the kids in the video comments.

It's pretty funny to see them stumble through the steps required to do, well, just about anything. Surprisingly, one of them even said they'd like to have an old PC today, though the rest were more than ready to trade the system back for a modern mobile device.
