While everyone seems to be incredibly excited about AMD’s upcoming Ryzen processors, the motherboards that will pair with the monster chips are just as important. Today, we bring you some X370 chipset lovin’ courtesy of a new unboxing video that showcases the ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero. Sean from KWASTEK was sent an early board direct from ASUS and while we can’t say for sure if he’s breaking the NDA, it surely seems plausible. If you’re familiar with packaging from ASUS’s most recent ROG products (including its gaming notebooks), things are quite similar here with the ROG Crosshair VI Hero.... Read more...
If you're finding that your excitement level is Ryzen, then you've clearly been reading the many rumors swirling around the highly anticipated processor family right here at HotHardware. While it's largely expected that AMD will be releasing its first chips soon, that sure doesn't mean that the rumormill is going to be taking a break over the next few weeks. Earlier, Paul wrote in depth about Ryzen's die shot and cache structure, which came hot on the heels of a week full of other juicy information. That includes a hint of AMD undercutting Intel's just-launched Kaby Lake processors, word of a huge... Read more...
AMD has a lot riding on Ryzen, its new generation CPU architecture that is supposed to return the chip designer to its former glory among power users and enthusiasts. We won't say it is a make or break release for AMD—the company has shown an uncanny ability to survive through tough periods—but it is certainly the biggest and most anticipated CPU launch by AMD in several years, and arguably over a decade. To ensure everything goes well without a hitch, AMD has lined up over a dozen high-performance AM4 motherboards from five hardware partners, including ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, and MSI.... MSI's X-Slim lineup garnered industry-wide praise when launched a couple of years ago, and now the line-up is stepping up to Fusion. The X-Slim X370 is the company's newest ultraslim machine, and while it doesn't look too different than X-Slim machines of the past, the internals are definitely deserving of a closer look. The X370 is powered by a dual-core E-350 Accelerated Processing Unit, and it's joined by a very nice list of extras... MSI X-Slim X370 13.4" Fusion Powered Ultraportable Review... Read more...
There was a period of time last year where it seemed like every other ultraportable was based on Intel's CULV platform. At the time, we figured that was just the way it was going to be for a while with ultralight notebooks. But then, AMD finally got around to shipping some Fusion based APUs. And since then, the mobile space has been hopping with new activity. Consumers have never had such a wealth of notebook options to choose from, and with Fusion, prices are remaining reasonable and battery life is improving too. MSI's X-Slim lineup garnered industry-wide praise when launched a... Read more...
Thin is in, playa, and everywhere you turn someone's touting an ultra-slim notebook. That includes MSI, which just announced its new X370 laptop with a super thin profile and long 10-hour battery life. This thing measures a scant 324 (W) x 227 (D) x 22.8 (H) millimeters, or for those of you who shake an angry fist at the metric system, that's roughly 12.76 x 8.94 x 0.89 inches. With battery, the X370 weighs just 1.4kg (3.08 pounds). Not bad for a Windows-based, 13.4-inch notebook that dances the line between a netbook and a full-sized notebook. Powering the X370 is AMD's dual-core E350 processor... Read more...
