Guess what? Sprint's got a new pair of HTC devices for you to consider. The company just launched the EVO 3D, America's first 3D-enabled smartphone, and the EVO 4G, which is yet another tablet option in an already crowded market. Both of these are going to be Sprint exclusives, at least for now, so if you're hoping to grab either, you'll need to also grab a Sprint contract. HTC EVO 3D, America's first glasses-free 3D phone will cost $199.99 and HTC EVO View 4G, the first 4G-enabled tablet in the United States, will cost $399.99. Both of those sums will require a 2-year agreement as well. While... Read more...
It’s hard to avoid making comparisons to Apple’s iPhone when you mention the HTC Touch Diamond. Although they are very different phones running on different operating systems, the Touch Diamond is arguably one of the closest competitors in the U.S. market today to the popular iPhone in terms of unique touch controls, an attractive looking user interface, power and versatility. Even though the phones compete in some areas, it’s important to understand that there’s a big difference between the Touch Diamond and the iPhone in terms of their intended users. You see, HTC designed the Touch Diamond... Read more...
It's hardly a game-changer, but it's pretty cool. Anyone who's looked at the comments on YouTube posts know that they are certainly not works of literary art. Well, if you heard your comment read back to you, would you still post it, with all its grammar and spelling errors? Perhaps not. YouTube has added an audio preview feature to its comments. They didn't publicize it, so we only happened to notice it as we were going to comment on a video myself (which we don't do that often). You can see it below. Our guess is, the lack of publicity is because: they didn't think of it themselves. As a friend... Read more...

Physics: as geeks, we just have to love the subject. We loved learning about geniuses like Isaac Newton and concepts like gravity, acceleration and inertia. Also, typical of geeks, we love gaming. So, combining physics acceleration and gaming just sounds like a really cool idea. For the past several years, we've been learning more and more about physics in gaming in the form of PhysX, a technology created by a company called Ageia. The original approach to PhysX by Ageia was a dedicated PhysX card that sported a PPU (physics processing unit). Ageia partnered with companies like BFG and ASUS to... Read more...

With Intel's recent launch of the Centrino 2 mobile platform, aka Montevina, you can be sure virtually all of the major notebook OEMs have been peddling their wares in an effort to hit the ground running during the back to school season this fall.  First out of the gate, delivering a Montevina thin-and-light to our labs, is Lenovo with their ever-popular, consistently well-built ThinkPad series.  The X200 is here.  All .8 inches thick and just under 3lbs of it...         In typical fashion Lenovo has engineered the X200 with clean, simple lines and a fit... From July 5th through July 27th, the Tour de France will be running. I'm not going to be heading over there to watch, and although they'll be plenty of coverage, what if we want take a look at the route from a spectator's view? Google's thought about that, and has provide a Street View of the entire route. Google's blog post announcing the launch gives us the info: With this launch, you can now follow the race through each of the 21 stages with just a click of a mouse and enjoy a perspective similar to what your favorite cyclists see as they wind through France's majestic mountains, vivacious cities,... Since its unveiling in May of 2007, Google's Street View has hit a few bumps in the road, including being told to "keep out" of an entire town, to being sued over privacy by a Pennsylvania couple, to being told to stay out of military bases. This particular incident is more humorous than anything else. Who is standing at the corner of 3186 San Pablo Ave. in Emeryville, near Oakland, California? Some think they may be working women, coining the nickname “Streetview Hookers.”Google Street View launched May 25, 2007 in five cities and has since expanded to 40 cities. The Google Maps addition... Read more...

North Oaks, Minn. is a small town of 4,500 residents. According to its web site, its residential roads are all privately-owned, and because of this unique situation it has requested that Google take down all Street View images of its roads."It's not the hoity-toity folks trying to figure out how to keep the world away," said Mayor Thomas Watson. "They really didn't have any authorization to go on private property."Since the introduction of Google Maps' Street View last spring, the feature has caused controversy in several cities and with the federal government. The Pentagon banned Google Maps from... Read more...
