There are some rumors circulating this morning that it is possible to enable the fourth hidden / disabled core in a triple-core Phenom II X3, by simply enabling Advanced Clock Calibration (ACC) in the system BIOS on motherboards outfitted with SB750 southbridges and AMI BIOS derivatives.So far, a couple of stories have surfaced that claim to have unlocked the fourth core in a triple core processor using ASRock M3A790GXH/128M and Biostar TA790GX motherboards. In a surprise move, a technology company shipped something on time.AMD has begun shipping triple-core Phenom processors.The company had promised the Phenom 8000 series would ship by the end of Q1, so this seems to be a sign that AMD is getting things back on track. There is no press release on its site and the new Phenoms do not yet appear on the company’s official price list, but PC World says AMD confirmed it is shipping a limited number of the new chips to major PC companies.Dell and HP both appear to have plans to use the triple-core chip, most likely the 2.3Ghz Phenom 8600, in business desktops.... AMD sent word this morning of product demos with their new 780G chipset and platform that we recently covered here for you in full detail.  At the time, we provided a detailed look at the capabilities of AMD's IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) in gaming and 3D rendering scenarios, as well as their new Hybrid CrossFire technology but we didn't get a chance to cover HD video decode and playback performance just yet.  We'll be following up on the product's performance ourselves shortly with an update to the original article but in the mean time, AMD has this to show us this morning...... As with all rumors, please take the following with a grain of salt.  A new rumor is being circulated that AMD's upcoming triple-core CPUs are likely to hit the shelves sometime in March 2008:“AMD will launch two B2 stepping triple-core CPUs, Phenom 8600 and 8400 in March of next year, while in the second quarter, the company will launch three more models, Phenom 8700, 8650 and 8450.The Phenom 8400 and 8600 will feature core frequencies of 2.1GHz and 2.3GHz, respectively, while the Phenom 8700 will clock at 2.4GHz. We now have a launch date, or at least launch month, for AMD's triple-core CPUs, which they announced in September.AMD recently notified its partners that it plans to launch two triple-core CPUs (Toliman) in February next year while two dual-core CPUs (Kuma) will appear by the end of the second quarter, according to sources at motherboard makers.The triple-core 7700 and 7600 will have core frequencies of 2.5GHz and 2.3GHz, respectively, and a TDP of 89W. frequencies for the dual-core 6250 and 6050 have not yet been set, but the CPUs will have a TDP of 65W, the sources revealed.Pricing: still unknown,...
