In case you were of the mind that airport travel wasn't a big enough pain as is, there's some good news to relay. If you'll be passing through Washington, DC's Dulles airport soon, you can plan on adding a new step to the routine. As part of a “test”, those coming back to the U.S. through Dulles may be chosen to have their picture taken by a customs agent, which will then be stored and used for later verification. What's interesting here is the "may." Why this isn't a full-blown rollout, I'm not sure, but I suppose it's a good thing. This move is of course unfortunate, and is sure to do almost... Read more...
Apple's iPad is the talk of the tech world. Everyone is captivated, and everyone is looking to take advantage. Including a company that you've probably never heard of before: Bluebox Avionics. We know it's an easy joke, but really, could Verbatim not think of any other name for its new family of mice? We're no experts on product labeling, but "Easy Riser" probably wouldn't have been our top choice for a number of politically incorrect reasons. At any rate, the news here is that Verbatim has issued a new range of mousing devices, all of which are designed to travel well and work with Windows and Mac machines. These ultra-slim mice boast a new design that enables users to adjust the height of the mouse with the flick of a switch. Why add that, you ask? According to the company, having the... Read more...
Maybe the new slogan for the ailing airline industry should be, "Fly the wi-fi skies."Perfect for the folks who start getting the shakes when they get on an airplane and are cut off from Internet access for the duration of their flight, more and more airlines are offering wi-fi Internet access, reports CNN. And those that don't are working on it. Right now it's just within North America, but it'd be hard to imagine it remaining that limited for long.Gogo Inflight Internet provides the access on Delta, American and Virgin America and will join United later this year, Aircell President/CEO Jack Blumenstein... Six million miles, into space no less.  The lightsaber used by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker will be flown into space on the space shuttle, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Star Wars.  And let's be honest, when we talk about Star Wars, despite the "episodes," there is only one Star Wars movie. Doug Mattice, a spokesman for Space Center Houston, said that the prop -- used when Mark Hamill played Luke Skywalker and fought Darth Vader -- would ride aboard the shuttle Discovery, which is scheduled for launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on October 23. It will be docked... Read more...
