This has been a tremendous week for Star Wars fans. First we got to see Han Solo and Chewbacca make an emotional appearance in the newest Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer (the second official trailer Disney has put out) and now Electronic Arts is treating us to a visual smorgasbord of cinema-quality footage showing the forthcoming Star Wars Battlefront game. Had you not known it was a game, it would be easy to mistake the trailer for an upcoming movie. Instead, you're seeing actual game engine footage of the multiplayer shooter, which was unveiled Friday at Star Wars Celebration, an annual... Read more...
Go ahead, try your best not to be as giddy as a school girl who just scored an autograph from Channing Tatum when watching the newest Star Wars trailer. The only difference is, instead of gushing over the Magic Mike character the way your mom used to drool over John Travolta, it's the long overdue reunion of Chewbacca and Han Solo that will elicit a nerdgasm. That's right folks, Disney has brought back Harrison Ford, who will reprise his role as Han Solo alongside his loyal Wookie sidekick. How big a role it will be isn't known, though with the delivery of a single line, Star Wars fans around the... Read more...
The gloves are off now...or, rather, they are on, and then off, and then on again. Last night Robert Downey Jr. turned up at the MTV Movie Awards with an extended heretofore mostly unseen clip from Marvel Studios' cannot-get-here-fast enough Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s a let 'er rip 90 seconds of the Iron Man versus Hulk battle that the film trailers, promos, and television commercials have only teased up until now.  Throughout the scene Downey Jr.'s Iron Man is bedecked in the "Hulkbuster" armor — arguably the very essence of <Hot>Hardware — that... When it comes to superhero face-offs, Iron Man vs. the Hulk is shaping up as the one to beat. (Not that Iron Man’s dust-up with Thor in “The Avengers” wasn’t mightily entertaining.) Marvel has been stoking the fire in advance of the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” sequel, even going so far as to release a teaser trailer for the Iron Man/Hulk trailer (think on that a second), which released today. Trailer screengrab. Image credit: Marvel While none of the movies about individual Avengers could be described as cheery, the first title to see the Avengers unite was particularly dark and ended with... Read more...
Amidst rumors and leaked images, Star Wars fans finally get a glimpse of the new movie. The teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens has been released online for everyone to watch. Clocking in at 90 seconds, the teaser trailer opens up with a shot of the desert, which could be Tattooine, with a voice in the background asking, “There has been an awakening, have you felt it?” Shortly afterwards a Stormtrooper pops up without his helmet looking distressed and taking quick, short breaths before turning his head at the sound of droids setting up a sinister and dark tone for the... There are plenty of great game trailers out there, but the one that just hit YouTube for Metro: Last Light will really make your trigger finger itch. Great graphics are to be expected, but they’re nothing without compelling imagery, and this game has that in spades. Subway tunnels that make you feel claustrophobic? Check. Haunting wreckage that points to an end-of-the-world struggle? Got it. Monsters that make you wonder about the people who thought them up? You bet.   Metro: Last Light, which has the tagline “Last Bullet. Last Breath. Last Chance.” is a first-person shooter... Read more...
If you haven't soiled your drawers lately, you're not a PC gamer. There's simply been too much to get overly excited about, even if the finished product didn't ultimately live up to expectations (Rage, anyone?). Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and as of this afternoon, the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V by Rockstar Games. The fifth installed rolls the GTA franchise back to California where sunshine and palm trees are in oversupply. Check out the official trailer below. The short 1 minute 25 second trailer doesn't reveal too much about the plot or upcoming game, though it's clearly... Read more...
Every so often, a game is monumental enough to warrant a limited run of themed consoles. Halo is one, and evidently the newest version of Call of Duty is another. Shortly after seeing a new multiplayer demo before the rapidly-approaching Nov. 11 release, there's now proof that a custom edition CoD-themed 360 (320GB) will be shipping with it. The highly decorated console will go on sale November 8th in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and EMEA for $399, and that includes a pair of stylized controllers as well as a copy of the game. A one month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription to Xbox... Read more...
It feels like just yesterday that we were picking up our first copy of Call of Duty, and now, we're looking at the latest iteration. A new video has surfaced on YouTube showcasing Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer capabilities. The game itself is just a few months out, and now we're getting a look at what that game will deliver. Needless to say, we suspect that people will be lined up around the block in order to bring this kind of action home as soon as humanly possible. The developer, Infinity Ward, decided to give CoD fans the world over a taste of what would be coming soon. This title will boast... Read more...
Call of Duty: Black Ops will launch on November 9. It will be available on Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and the Nintendo DS. Activision has just released the official launch trailer. Although the YouTube video says it was uploaded on Oct. 29, it was done then so it could render in HD and be tested properly. It was only publicly revealed on Halloween evening. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the seventh installment of the Call of Duty series and the third game in the series to be developed by Treyarch. It is a sequel to the Treyarch's previous title in the series, Call of Duty:... Read more...
Just kidding. But people in the cell phone world do call Samsung's UpStage music phone the "Mullet Phone," because it has a cell phone in the front, and an MP3 player in the back. Business in the front, party in the back, as they say. And Samsung expects the highly touted Apple iPhone to help sales of their UpStage, not hurt them. Apple's first attempt at an iPod-phone hybrid, the much-derided Motorola Rokr, never took off, and may have turned off potential buyers to the idea of a music phone. That may change with the launch of the impending iPod.... Read more...
