The FirePro V3900 is AMD's latest budget solution for the professional graphics market. We covered the card's launch last month. It's a formidable step up from the V3800 it replaces. Budget card launches may lack some of the excitement of high-end product debuts, but lower-end cards like the V3900 account for a significant percentage of AMD's total GPU sales. The V3900 is interesting for another reason -- it's AMD's latest salvo in its ongoing campaign to steal professional market share away from rival Nvidia. Workstation-class GPU sales are overwhelmingly dominated by Team Green, but AMD has slashed... Read more...

So, there's good news for those hoping to make their existing machine last a little bit longer. And there's bad news for those always looking for the next big leap in computing technology. The PCI SIG, the working group responsible for the forward movement of the PCI bus, has just confirmed that the release of PCIe 3.0 will be delayed by a significant amount. The standard was originally expected to be ratified by the end of this year, yet now the specification isn't apt to be passed off until Q2 2010. You might say that Q2 2010 doesn't feel that far away, and in our eyes, you'd be right. But remember,... Read more...
In case you don't know, an upskirt photo is one taken surreptitiously by pointing a camera upwards and ... well, we're hoping you can figure it out on your own, as well as the analogous downblouse photo. For some reason, with the advent of high-resolution camera phones, the practice of upskirt and downblouse photos have become very popular in Japan.  According to freelancer Nobuyuki Hayashi, the iPhone omitted this "feature," - a silent shutter sound - possibly explaining its wild popularity in that country.  All right, all right, it's popular everywhere.  Sue us.At any rate, the... Bluetooth and normal Wi-Fi, such as Draft-N, aren't too good for transferring large files, because of interference and other issues.  Scientists are looking into using very high frequencies to develop nwe technologies for short-range wireless data transfer of large amounts of data. While Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have emerged as efficient ways to zap small amounts of data between gadgets, neither is well suited for quickly transferring high-definition video, large audio libraries and other massive files. Laskar and other scientists at the Georgia Electronic Design Center have turned... Read more...
