Here’s an unsurprising factoid: Billionaires don’t understand what it’s like to not have enough money, especially when they’ve been rich virtually their entire adult lives. Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page sat down for a “fireside chat” at the Khosla Ventures CEO Summit, and they shared their thoughts on, among other thing, the present and future of the human workforce. The conversation flowed that way naturally, and host Vinod Khosla asked an interesting question about the “machine-learning revolution” and how human jobs are being replaced.... Read more...
So there’s this mysterious barge parked in San Francisco Bay, stacked with shipping containers. It was a known fact that the barge belonged to Google, but nobody knew what it was doing there, what was on it, or what it might be used for, but local TV station KPIX says it’s cracked it: The barge will be a floating Google Glass showroom, and the whole thing was a project by Google[x], the search giant’s secretive idea incubator and lab. Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s pet project is Google Glass, which is a pair of spectacles that function as a wearable computer. He’s been spotted wearing them at multiple events, but NYC resident Noah Zerkin happened to sit across from him on the subway train. Zerkin had a chat with Brin (whom he described as both “the powerful man in the world” and a “nice guy”) and tweeted a picture of Brin wearing the glasses and a pleasant smile. Although pictures of Brin wearing Google Glass in the wild are rare, it’s no surprise to see that’s testing them constantly... Read more...
