Qualcomm announced a Pro version of its Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chip, which features the Adreno 320 GPU instead of the older-generation Adreno 225 and a promised 4x boost in performance. Among the Adreno 320’s features is the ability to access the GPU’s computational capabilities through APIs that open the door to next-generation 3D graphics, hardware acceleration to enhance the Windows experience and gaming, and more. Over the past few months, we have seen previews of some GPU-accelerated Adobe effects at events being held by both NVIDIA and AMD / ATI. Hitachi announced today that it's equipping their 200GB Travelstar 7K200 hard drive with a bulk data encryption option. Information can be encrypted right as it's being written to the hard disk. By taking advantage of bulk data encryption, users can scramble data as it is written to the disk by using an encryption key. They can then retrieve the descrambled information when and where they choose by using the same encryption key.
