Well, who didn’t see this one coming? Delays for highly anticipated video games are nothing new, so you shouldn’t be too surprised to hear that Rockstar Games has delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto V for the PC. The game was originally set to debut on January 27, but that date has now been pushed back until March 24. “Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be,” said Rockstar in a posting on its website earlier this morning. “Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice... Back in April, Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto V would be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. One thing many fans of highly anticipated games look forward to is the beta access. Getting the opportunity to play, test, and provide feedback on the game is one that many enjoy participating in. But, as usual, there are those that try to take advantage of a consumer’s enthusiasm and Rockstar Games is warning fans not to fall for any beta scams. Considering the popularity of GTA V, which was able to generate $800 million in sales within the first 24 hours of release,... Read more...
Despite the fact that Grand Theft Auto V was released over nine months ago, it continues to find its way into headlines sometimes for good reasons, other times for less-than-ideal reasons. But regardless of those reasons, publicity is publicity, and I'm sure Rockstar welcomes it. The game, which was recently announced to come to additional platforms this fall, once again finds itself in headlines today, and from an unsuspecting source: Lindsay Lohan. As it happens, a character in GTA V resembles Lohan slightly, and apparently shares a similar voice and clothes line. Generally, I write this kind... Read more...
You can get a jump start on the 4th of July festivities by downloading a Grand Theft Auto V title update (version 1.15) containing special content for Independence Day. This is very much a themed update with two new vehicles sporting permanent American Flag livery -- the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. All that's missing is a bumper sticker declaring, "These colors don't run!" Naturally no GTA V update would be complete without new weapons, and this one brings them in a form of a high-powered Musket and a Firework Rocket Launcher. It also introduces four types... What’s that, you say? You’re sick to death of the high-stakes patent wars being waged by huge tech companies against one another? Well too bad, because if anything, things are just escalating. A consortium called Rockstar, which is comprised of Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson, and Sony, is suing Google (and others) over an alleged violation of patents related to matching search terms with advertising, according to Reuters. Credit: Sam Howzit via Flickr When Nortel went bankrupt a few years ago, the Rockstar group outbid Google $4.5 billion to $4.4 billion for Nortel’s patents.... Read more...
Well, this seems rather un-Rockstar-like. Grand Theft Auto Online, which will be free to owners of the ultra-successful GTA V, has been in closed beta testing since just after the main game's release. Of course, just because it's closed doesn't mean that we won't learn all about it before its public release. So far, one of the most interesting leaks involves ingame transactions, which will include consumables and ingame currency. Apparently, nothing substantial from your single-player campaign will carry over to the online campaign. You'll start from square one, committing crimes to be able to... Read more...
Rockstar's Max Payne and Grand Theft Auto series are typically a blast to play, provided you're into the developer's brand of gritty violence. As a result, both franchises are also huge successes, but that doesn't mean their respective fans are always happy, In fact, some of them are downright angry that it takes Rockstar so long to develop sequels. Why does it sometimes take years for Rockstar to come out with a sequel when its games rake in so much cash? It just happens that's one of the many questions Rockstar answered on its website as part of its 'Asked & Answered' series, in which it... Read more...
Nobody likes a cheater, and to keep a "small minority" of unscrupulous Max Payne 3 gamers from totally ruining the multiplayer experience, Rockstar said it will banish them to their own special area, one that's filled with other "miscreants" found to be using cheats, hacks, and other exploits. "Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a 'Cheaters Pooll, where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed... Let's cut right to the chase. The first and most important thing you need to know about Max Payne 3 is this:  It's not a happy gamw, though its graphics engine sure is gorgeous. In the first Max Payne, you assumed the role of a deep undercover DEA agent tasked with breaking a massive drug ring. On the night of the worst snowstorm in New York's history, Payne finally breaks the case and avenges the murder of his wife and daughter three years earlier. Max Payne 2 was more morally ambiguous, but there was still a sense of being one of the good guys. In Max Payne 3, you play a bitter, middle-aged... Read more...
