At this point, it doesn't even matter who's to blame for BFG's demise, because at the end of the day, you're left holding the bag should your BFG videcoard give up the ghost. The company's days appear numbered, and BFG, which essentially pioneered the concept of Lifetime Warranties in the GPU market, is no longer honoring RMAs for busted cards. Bummer. In case you haven't been following, BFG fell on hard times when it was unable to secure shipments of Nvidia's Fermi products, forcing the company to ditch its videocard business. According to reports, this didn't sit well with Best Buy, which ended... Read more...

ASUS is one of the key drivers of the netbook arena, at least in the sense that they are often the first to bring new features and platforms to market. Not only did they launch the very first commercially available netbook, the Eee PC 701, they can also lay claim to having the first Intel Atom powered notebook, the Eee PC 900A, as well as the first 10" netbook, the Eee PC 1000. Since the first Eee PC hit the market just over a year ago, we have seen a relatively constant stream of new products flow out of the Eee PC team at ASUS; both a blessing and a curse. Oddly, ASUS has actually been criticized... Read more...

Thermaltake is ready to formally introduce its Xpressar RCS100 Micro Refrigeration Cooling System, which was first shown off at Computex in June. It's no secret that music sales comprised of physical media (i.e. CDs) are down in the face of huge competition from iTunes and other digital distribution channels.  At the same time, no one ever said the record labels would give up on physical sales easily.  Today SanDisk, along with the four major record labels (Warner Bros., EMI, Sony BMG and Universal Music Group) have announced a new format: slotMusic. slotMusic is essentially a microSD card with an album on it, and the partners plan to roll it out in time for the holiday season.According to the format's official site, Wal-Mart and... It's not the first time something like this has happened, and it won't be the last. What's worrisome is that it probably happens more often than we know, and we just don't hear about it. No, someone didn't explicitly sell personal info on eBay. What they did was sell a hard drive with the bank account numbers, phone numbers, mothers' maiden names and signatures of 1 million customers of American Express, NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland on it. Big oops, right? Fortunately, the buyer was Andrew Chapman, an IT manager from Oxford, and not some scammer. Obviously, the odds are in favor of the... Read more...

Id Software has had minimal success developing games for cell phones. It ported its popular Doom title over to the cell phone platform with Doom RPG, as well as developing two original Orcs and Elves games for phones. Ultimately, the three titles sold only a combined two million copies. The problem, at least up to now, is that cell phones have been less than ideal gaming platforms. They typically have small screens, limited processing power and memory, and awkward controls. But according to an article on Forbes.com, Id's co-founder, John Carmack is eyeing the iPhone as the mobile platform that... Read more...
