Verizon Wireless recently slashed the prices on their Palm WebOS phones. After the price cuts, you can pick up not one, but two Pre Plus phones for $49 or two Pixi Plus phones for $29. Perhaps even more surprising is that Verizon is now offering the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature for free (the service previously cost $40 per month). Wow. There had been rumors that webOS would be coming to AT&T, but just a few weeks after the carrier grabbed their first Android phone (Motorola's Backflip), Palm has announced that the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus will soon be on sale at AT&T. Google's Android and Apple's iPhone OS are easily the leading two mobile operating systems in terms of sheer mindshare, but the coemption is heating up. Palm stole the show at CES 2009 when it introduced the world's first webOS-based smartphone, but a year spent on Sprint's network has left it in the shadows of the iPhone and a slew of Android phones. Starting Monday, you'll be able to pick up the Palm Pre Plus as well as the Palm Pixi Plus from Verizon Wireless. The new Palm Pre Plus will cost $149 and the Palm Pixi Plus will run $99.99. Both prices are after a $100 mail-in rebate and with new two-year customer agreement. The prices are in-line with previous generations of the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi which are currently available exclusively through Sprint.
