Does physical media really have a future? The world seems to be rapidly moving away from discs and DVDs, and streaming media is swooping in to take their place. Orb Networks has just launched a service that can provide free streaming of premium online TV shows, sports, movies, and more. The new offering, named Orb Live, is the first service to stream free, ad-supported Hulu to mobile devices and is priced at a one-time fee of only $9.99. The service features premium online content, including full TV show episodes from Hulu, ABC, CBS, Fox, ESPN and more, with unique technology that streams... Read more...
If you're someone who follows the media streaming business with any regularity, you'll probably recognize the Orb Networks name. This month, Orb is expanding in a big way, and coming into mainstream homes via the PlayStation 3 and a host of other Blu-ray players. The new Orb BR application is designed to integrate with Sony's PS3 and select Blu-ray players, enabling people to watch shows from Hulu, Hulu Plus, Comedy Central and many other portals. The app brings this content right to your television, and would make the most sense to use on players that aren't already Internet-connected with built-in... Read more...
If you've known about Orb in the past, you probably knew it best as a software company. Orb Networks' claim to fame came from a software built that allowed iTunes content to be streamed to any device for free, but now they're taking things to the next level: hardware. It's a tough and competitive landscape for hardware makers in the audio/streaming space, but Orb may just have a winner on their hands here. The new smartphone-controlled and Internet-connected music system is called the Orb Music Player (easy enough!), and it's designed to work as a standalone device to stream iTunes, Internet music/radio,... You may not realize it at first glance, but this software release is probably one of the year's biggest for the Mac. We know, Snow Leopard was cool, but this is just fantastic. Orb is widely known as one of the best media streaming applications for Windows, and while an iPhone app came out last year that allowed iPhone users to watch media streamed from the PC, it seems logical to think that Mac version would be even more relevant for iPhone owners. Finally, that is exactly what has happened. Orb for Macintosh is now on the market, and best of all, you won't even need a credit card number to buy... Read more...
What do you know?  The fourth time is the charm, at least for the Falcon 1 two-stage SpaceX rocket.  This was the fourth flight of the rocket, and it became the first commercial space vehicle to reach earth orbit. Elon Musk, CEO and CTO of SpaceX, who made his fortune as co-founder of PayPal prior to starting this space venture, said: "This is a great day for SpaceX and the culmination of an enormous amount of work by a great team. The data shows we achieved a super precise orbit insertion—middle of the bull's-eye — and then went on to coast and restart the second stage, which was... Read more...
Well, not exactly. But IBM is claiming that Taiwan-based Asus is infringing on several of their patents, and wants the United States International Trade Commission to ban the import of Asus Computer products into the US until they get their pound of patent flesh.  This could get very interesting, because Asus makes computers under their own name, but also makes computers for other big brand names such as Apple and Dell.IBM said the infringing products include notebook computers, servers, routers, and some components. It said the patents cover important aspects of computer systems, including... Read more...
While we may not see him playing a character opposite Jack Sparrow any time soon, Mikhail Gorbachev is doing his part to save a Russian teacher accused of piracy, Alexander Ponosov. The teacher, accused of using pirated software at his school, is seen by many Russians as the unfortunate sap who Microsoft has chosen to go after in order to set a precedent when it comes to piracy in the region. Gorbachev asked Bill Gates himself to personally intervene in the case and show mercy to Mr. Ponosov, since he only meant to help his students. In a response Gates said that Microsoft did not initiate the... Read more...

Whether you're a serious overclocker or simply want a quiet and cool running system, choosing a quality CPU cooler is crucial.  There is no shortage of choices available, making the decision factor a daunting task for some, but taking the time to research the right cooler can result in a positive long term experience. Good evening friends, how was your day?  I just popped some pills that should help me kick this cold / sleep tonight.  So, before I loose total coherence to the world around me, let's get the news posted.  Here is your evening shot of juice...  Matrix Orbital MX422 LCD Review @ GruntvillE.com "The MX422 is basically the LK204-24-USB LCD display mounted on a nice looking double 5-1/4" drive bay insert. The front has a brushed metal finish which is pretty typical in the nicer aluminum cases like the Cooler Master and the Lian Li. The rear of the unit looks a little confusing... Read more...
