iPad, iPad, iPad. No matter what, it's tough to shake the current king, and now that the unit's screen resolution is higher than that of any single rival, Apple has yet another leg to stand on. And while pre-orders have been sold out online for some time, those seeking a unit first-thing will still want to show up on Friday morning, money in hand. Apple today reaffirmed that the third-gen iPad will be at Apple retail stores on Friday, March 16 at 8:00 a.m. local time in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK; along with Puerto Rico and the... At the time of our recent review of Lenovo's ThinkPad X120e, we weren't exactly sure when the machine would go on sale to the public. It was stated that it may be some point in March before Lenovo had them ready to go, but obviously things have been sped up somewhat. As of now, the X120e can be ordered directly from Lenovo, with a starting price of just $399. As we found in our review, this ultraportable packs a wallop in terms of performance thanks to the use of AMD's Fusion platform (the E-350 APU in particular), and there aren't too many flaws to harp on. If you were secretly hoping for a few... Read more...
It's hard to deny that the netbook market is largely stagnant. Even new machines joining the fray are forced to abide by Microsoft's hardware limits if they use Windows XP, which means that you'll be hard pressed to find a netbook with anything more potent than an Atom N270/N280, a hard drive larger than 160GB and more than 1GB of RAM. Always Innovation, however, has remained true to its name by inventing a somewhat different netbook in the form of the so-called "Touch Book."This netbook is more of a tablet/netbook-in-one, an unusual machine that actually looks quite stunning. As for specifications,... Read more...
A little later than many had hoped, one of the two software unlocking solutions for the iPhone has gone on sale.  You may recall that the other retailer, Uniquephones.com, was threatened by AT&T when they first announced their intention to sell their product. The one U.S. dealer handling iPhoneSIMFree's unlock -- which lets iPhone owners swap out SIM cards so that the device can make calls on cellular networks other than AT&T's -- listed the hack for US$99. According to a sales representative who answered the phone at New York-based Wireless Imports, the reseller is waiting on iPhoneSIMFree... Read more...
It's big. Really big. At 110 inches (279.4 cm), Japan Victor Corporation's (JVC) HD-110MH80 takes the crown as the world's largest high definition TV set. Everything about it is big: it is 3 feet deep, weighs 728 pounds, and will cost about $53,000 (USD). The HD-110MH80 offers 1920x1080 resolution, 1080p images, and 5000:1 contrast ratio. This behemoth goes on sale in July, but deliveries will start in October. Although impressive, it would be a major pain to move one of these things to another room, let alone to another home. However, it is probably safe to assume that whoever can afford this... Read more...
If you're showing up at the Star Wars conventions in a plain old limousine or a Prius, listen up: for a fraction of the price of  an AT-AT, you can now afford a JL 421 Land Cruiser, and get all the girls dressed up like Princess Leia in a metal bikini. And it's only $19,999.95 on Amazon. Order early, I imagine this item will dwarf the demand for the Apple iPhone. The JL421 Badonkadonk is a completely unique, extremely rare land vehicle and battle tank. Designed with versatility in mind, the Donk can transport cargo or a crew of five internally or on the roof, and can be piloted from within... Read more...
