Motorola released its flagship Droid Turbo smartphone just over a month ago, but that doesn’t mean that you have to wait until after the New Year to get one for an extremely attractive price point — that is, if you’re an existing customer or planning on making a switch to Verizon Wireless. The Droid Turbo normally sells for $199 with a new, two-year contract, and that isn’t changing with the Best Buy’s newest promotion. However, those that qualify for a device upgrade through Verizon Wireless can score a $100 Best Buy gift card when they purchase the phone either with a new two-year upgrade or with... Read more...
Once upon a time, back when cavemen ruled the Earth and I was in college, the "in" thing to do (if you were a nerd, anyway), was to port Doom to various Windows mobile phones, PDAs, G3/G4-era Macs, graphing calculators, and other assorted devices with limited functionality and horsepower. Now, some 13 years later, porting Doom has apparently become too easy. Two separate Android developers have raised the ante and released functional ports of Quake II and III for the Motorola Droid. The new Motorola Droid isn't Verizon's only upcoming Android smartphone. In addition to the much-hyped handset which is set to arrive on Friday, the wireless carrier is also planning to unleash the Droid Eris this week. From leaked specs, it appears this phone will have a... Read more...
Not long ago, Verizon Wireless launched an aggressive ad campaign against the iPhone. That doesn’t mean Verizon is completely moving on and has no interest in the iPhone, however. During Verizon’s third-quarter earnings conference call yesterday, Verizon’s chief executive Ivan Seidenberg said his company would be interested in selling the iPhone. “We obviously would be interested at any point in the future that they would be interested in having us as a partner,” Seidenberg said. “This is a decision that is exclusively in Apple’s court.” Meanwhile, Verizon will focus on the handsets it does offer,... If you’ve been following news and announcements surrounding the Android operating system, you may have picked up on the fact that Google hasn’t announced Android 2.0 or the SDK. An official announcement hasn’t stopped Verizon from talking about this new OS, however. In fact, Verizon has said the upcoming Motorola Droid will run Android version 2.0. Word on the street says this much-hyped new Android phone will officially be announced tomorrow, October 28. Two other recently released Android smartphones, the Samsung Moment and the Motorola CLIQ still run older versions of Android. Motorola has customized... Read more...
