Not to be outdone by AMD, NVIDIA announced its own new mobile and desktop workstation GPUs today designed for professionals with serious graphics processing needs. On the desktop workstation side, NVIDIA introduced the second generation of its Maximus platform, which now features Kepler architecture. Maximus employs parallel processing with the NVIDIA Tesla K20 GPU computing accelerator and the NVIDIA Quadro K5000 GPU running graphics functions and automatically shifts workloads to the best chip for the job. NVIDIA Quadro K5000 The Quadro K5000 will be available as a standalone desktop GPU by October,... Read more...
Asus held a tech seminar over the weekend in which it discussed future product launches, new features, and its plans for the year 2011. We've got information on the four new motherboards Asus is launching to support Intel's upcoming Sandy Bridge. Fans of Asus who are also interested in upgrading when Sandy Bridge drops, will find the below of particular interest. From the top left corner we've got the Asus P8P67 Pro, the P8P67 Deluxe, the Maximus IV Extreme (bottom left) and the Sabertooth 3D (bottom right.) We visually compared the Pro and Deluxe—the Deluxe offers at least one more fan connector,... Read more...
Although the Core i7 and X58 combo is a proven performance leader, there are still plenty of Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad CPUs out there in the wild. The Core 2 is still a very capable processor with many models costing less than half the price the cheapest Core i7 processor, the Core i7 920. Thus, systems based around the P45 chipset are still a viable option for getting good, if not great, performance at a vastly more affordable price. Up until now, when users thought of a micro-ATX board, they typically expect find a slimmed down version of a full sized product, minus some of the bells and whistles... Read more...

We have posted a few Intel Lynnfield motherboard sneak peeks here at HotHardware in the last few weeks (see here, and here for two of them), but we thought there was room to squeeze in one more.We recently had the chance to manhandle Asus' upcoming Rampage III Formula and thought some of you would like to check out what Asus has in store for one of their next RoG--Republic of Gamers--motherboards.As you can see, the Asus Maximus III Formula is built around a dark colored PCB, with red, white, and black accents. It has four DDR3 DIMM slots for dual-channel memory configurations, and each slot has... Read more...
At first glance, Intel's technical documentation for the new P45 / G45 Express series chipsets, you'll note looks alarmingly similar to the previous generation P35 / G35 Express series that this new lineup of chipsets is meant to replace. As the P35 series was a rather successful architecture, this immediately struck us on a positive first note about the P45. The more we read on, the more we realized that the Intel P45 chipset shares many of the same features and attributes as Intel’s high-end X38 / X48 chipsets, just at a much lower price point.Initial... In preparation for the impending arrival of Intel’s more affordable 45nm quad-core Yorkfield and dual-core Wolfdale processors, motherboard manufacturers have been readying a slew of new products to properly support the CPUs.  Many of these motherboard products are based on Intel’s recent chipset offerings, including the X38 and brand new X48.  We’ve already shown you a few X38-based motherboards and explained what the X48 brings to the table in previous articles.  Today we’ll be taking a look at a couple of new motherboards based on these two chipsets, courtesy of Asus. Asus is... Read more...
Just in case you missed the fresh link at the top of the page, we’re writing to let you know that we’ve just posted a new article here at HotHardware in which we evaluate the features, overclockability, and performance of two of Asus’ premiere motherboards for the Intel platform, the X48-based P5E3 Premium and the X38-based Maximus Extreme.  These two motherboards are family members of two different series of products by Asus – R.O.G. and Ai Lifestyle – and as such they each offer a different mix of features and integrated peripherals.  They’re both high-end motherboards targeted...
