Amazon and Marvel teamed up to bring comics to the Kindle Store this week, expanding a digital distribution model that has already brought Marvel comics to millions of devices. Amazon recently acquired comiXology, which developed the wildly popular Marvel Comics apps for Android and iOS. Kindle Fire readers were already able to read comics (including singles) thanks to comiXology, but now Kindle users will have also have access to singles in the Kindle Store. “Amazon, comiXology and Marvel share a passion for expanding the audience for comic books and graphic novels worldwide,” said David Naggar,... An anonymous bidder laid out a cool $91K and change in an online auction to put an extra-special Iron Man Limited Edition Galaxy S6 Edge in their pocket, agreeing to pay 100 times the retail price for the device due to its 66 serial number (in China six is considered a lucky number, and thus 66 is doubly so). Yes, you read that right, and no, it is not the 1st of April, not in the U.S., China, or anywhere else today on our spinning blue rock.  The JD.com auction for the devilishly cool Iron Man Limited Edition Galaxy S666 Edge comes just two weeks after another one of the Edge-y... The gloves are off now...or, rather, they are on, and then off, and then on again. Last night Robert Downey Jr. turned up at the MTV Movie Awards with an extended heretofore mostly unseen clip from Marvel Studios' cannot-get-here-fast enough Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s a let 'er rip 90 seconds of the Iron Man versus Hulk battle that the film trailers, promos, and television commercials have only teased up until now.  Throughout the scene Downey Jr.'s Iron Man is bedecked in the "Hulkbuster" armor — arguably the very essence of <Hot>Hardware — that... When it comes to superhero face-offs, Iron Man vs. the Hulk is shaping up as the one to beat. (Not that Iron Man’s dust-up with Thor in “The Avengers” wasn’t mightily entertaining.) Marvel has been stoking the fire in advance of the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” sequel, even going so far as to release a teaser trailer for the Iron Man/Hulk trailer (think on that a second), which released today. Trailer screengrab. Image credit: Marvel While none of the movies about individual Avengers could be described as cheery, the first title to see the Avengers unite was particularly dark and ended with... Read more...
“Yo dawg! I heard you like trailers, so I made a trailer for your trailer.” Marvel is hoping for an epic opening for its upcoming sequel to the 2012 smash hit, The Avengers. The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is set for release on May 1, but Marvel is taken an Xzibit-esque turn by releasing a teaser trailer for the upcoming trailer that will debut on January 12 during the NCAA college football championship game on ESPN. Yes, you heard that right. We have now come to the point where trailers actually need their own teaser trailer. And to add insult to injury, the teaser trailer for the trailer simply shows... LG is launching its first Android-powered phone, the LG Ally. In addition to launching the new phone, LG is teaming up with Marvel Studios to launch a multi-platform marketing campaign for the phone and the upcoming summer film Iron Man 2. As part of the marketing campaign, you'll get a special edition Iron Man 2 comic book when you buy an LG Ally, LG Chocolate Touch, or LG enV Touch phone. Although LG's press release (see below) doesn't reveal many details about the Ally phone itself, we do know it will be available May 20. Rumors suggest this phone is headed to Verizon, though LG doesn't mention... Read more...
Noooooooo!  Any chance of playing Wolverine is now "dust in the wind."Cryptic Studios has shut the lid on production for a massively multiplayer online game that would have pit Marvel comic characters together in a big melee."Marvel and we have agreed to end development on the MMO," said Microsoft Games Studios head Shane Kim in an interview with MTV's Multiplayer gaming blog.Marvel Universe Online was first announced in September 2006 and it was never given a firm release date.  Rumors of the game's cancellation spiked late last year but no one at Microsoft or Cryptic was ready to confirm... Microsoft's latest web browser, Internet Explorer 7, is a large improvement from IE6. The problem is, it's only an improvement if it works. Operability problems with some sites that aren't compatible with the latest version have prompted Microsoft to offer a free piggyback version with IE 6 to let you look at most anything on the web properly. Computerworld  has the skinny: Microsoft made its desktop virtualization tool, Virtual PC 2004 SP1, free for download earlier this year. It's not my favorite virtualization tool, but it...
