Microsoft is in the process of rolling out some major changes to its official Windows Phone website. The new look and feel will be rolled out in Australia and New Zealand initially and will work its way around the world in the coming weeks. With the new site, you'll see a cleaner design and some new menu options such as News which provides information about Windows Phone-related news and announcements. A couple of days ago, the Windows Phone team posted a blog stating that, due to a digital certificate glitch, the Windows Marketplace temporarily stopped publishing new apps. According to the post, the problem only affected recently-added apps on phones that had been upgraded to Windows Phone 7.5. Some users apparently would receive an error message when attempting to download or update certain apps, which no doubt caused a cadre of developers to bang their heads against the wall for a day or so while trying to troubleshoot the problem. According to one report, Microsoft’s app store known as the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace may now have 25,000 applications. In comparison to Apple’s App Store, this figure may not sound like much. The Windows Phone App List claims the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has 25,076 applications. It's no secret that Microsoft's Marketplace is struggling in comparison to Apple's App Store or Google's Android Market. If you browse through these three online application stores, you'll see that Apple and Google have many more applications to offer compared to Microsoft. In fact, Apple has about 225,000 apps and Google has 65,000 in their respective app stores.
