Samsung is introducing a number of new members to their SSD 850 EVO line-up of Solid State Drives, based on different form factors than the standard 2.5” drives we showed you here. The brand new mSATA and M.2 Samsung SSD 850 EVO drives being announced today, however, leverage all of the same technology. Thin and light clients are all the rage these days, even in the desktop space -- from Intel's NUC to many diminutive Steam Machines, the idea from OEMs is that even mainstream buyers are going to adopt system form factors the size of playing cards. If true, it would explain the thinking behind Apacer's latest innovation -- a new style of DRAM that can mount M.2 drives or serial CompactFlash (CFast) cards with support for the SATA 3.0 interface. We've always heard that wherever there's a will, there's a way. That's exactly what SanDisk believes, as its newest memory card lineup targets gamers who actually think a specially labeled flash card will work best in their new handheld. Perhaps the only Mini-ITX AM2 motherboard on the planet at this time, the KI960-AM2 has a lot going for it other than a name that sounds like some top-secret military hardware. The board seems to have almost everything one could reasonably expect in such a small form factor and then some. The phrase 'next-generation' seems to be in the news daily as of late and today is no exception as NVIDIA announces its upcoming new chipset for AMD's socket AM2, and AM2+. The new chipset named MCP72 is planned to be the successor of the nForce 500 line as well as AMD's MCP68. The MCP72 will be jam packed full of new features such as HypterTransport 3.0 capabilities and PCIe 2.0 support. Stepping back to look at who has the largest market share in the chipset sector for AMD socket AM2 processors, it's clear who is on top and who is not.  Take virtually any major motherboard manufacturer and see what they have to offer and in most cases, NVIDIA chipset solutions are going to dominate the product list.  It's a little ironic when you take into account the merger between AMD and ATI, but it's a safe assumption that AMD and ATI will be working to level the playing field in the near future as they work on their roadmap product offering together.
