Smartphones are getting ridiculous, in a good way. Some of the latest crop offer specs and features that make whatever most of us currently have on hand look like second-rate toys. To wit, Acer announced a phone called the Liquid S2 that promises to capture 4K video. The handset boasts a 6-inch full HD IPS display with a curved glass surface and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (2.2GHz) processor, 13MP rear camera with autofocus and an LED ring flash that shoots 4K video, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard memory, and a 2MP front-facing camera. The rear camera has an 88-degree viewing angle and has... Read more...
Well, Asus and Garmin may be parting ways, but there are still friendships to be made in the smartphone world. Acer and Ferrari (yes, that Ferrari!) have managed to come together in order to put forth a new smartphone model based around Google's Android OS, and just like the Ferrari-based notebooks that we have seen in the past, there's no doubt that the color scheme will attract some eyes. This is easily one of the hottest, most stylish Android phones that have hit the mainstream, and even if you aren't particularly fond of Ferrari, that candy apple red paint makes it stand out from the rest.... Asetek and liquid cooling solutions go hand-in-hand; the company has been in the business of keeping gaming rigs cool for years now, and they're one of the most respected names in the sector. So what's the big fuss here? Well, Asetek has really gone above and beyond with this one: a new all-in-one liquid cooled prototype machine that's far, far more powerful than any other AIO we have seen in the past. To date, there aren't any pre-fabricated all-in-one PCs that utilize liquid cooling and high-end components. It's definitely a niche, and we suspect that has kept companies from entering this market... Read more...

Danger Den just sent word that their Radeon HD 5870 water block is ready and about to ship--the official press release is posted below. Perhaps more interesting than the news about the 5870 water block, however, is the little detail Danger Den mentions at the end of the release. It looks like the dual-GPU powered Radeon HD 5870 X2 (if that is what it will officially be named) design is complete and samples are out in the wild. DD-5870 Block for the ATI 5870 VGA Card Danger Den continues to extend their broad line of full coverage video card blocks with the new ATI 5870 water block. The DD-5870... Read more...

Water-cooling has seen greater mainstream acceptance in recent years. As a result, manufacturers have acknowledged the trend and expanded their product lineups to include these more exotic parts. But what's the big draw for videocards, motherboards, or memory pre-installed with liquid cooling options? Simply put, increased cooling potential nets higher overclocking headroom which translates into higher, stable operating frequencies and ultimately, more performance. But in this particular case, performance is anchored by lower component temperatures and a quieter computing environment. Will consumers... Read more...
When we think about ECS and their product lines, we typically expect a budget-minded approach.  Solid products at reasonable prices that don't exactly wow the consumer, but don't hit them hard in the wallet either.  The ECS X48T-A motherboard that we looked at a few weeks ago was one of the first steps by ECS to change that image, although a few missteps with the construction as well as some overclocking issues didn't overly sway us to their new way of thinking.  Thus, we were a bit surprised when we first heard about the ECS GeForce 9800 GTX+ Hydra - a twin pack... Even in the age of green computing and lower power 45nm silicon manufacturing technologies, thermal management, specifically heat mitigation, continues to be a challenge .   Maybe you're a dyed-in-the-wool overclocker or perhaps a silent computing buff that wants things whisper-quiet. Then again, even the average "Joe Sixpack" could probably appreciate how unobtrusive a computer can be and that, as savvy HH readers know, can only be achieved through robust, elegant cooling solutions.  In that vein and out of the Kingdom of Denmark comes Danamics with... Just in case you missed the new link at the top of the home page, we're here to let you know that we have just posted a new article in which we evaluate the features and performance of the Asetek LCLC, Low Cost Liquid Cooling system.  The LCLC may resemble other water cooling setups but it provides many features that set it apart from the pack.  Asetek has attempted to address nearly all of the traditional disadvantages of water cooling compared to air cooling.  First off, the LCLC is a completely sealed system, which means it comes completely pre-assembled.  This eliminates...
