Ah, arcades. The generation that grew up wondering where their next quarter was going to come from knows all too well the joy found in a typical arcade-style control scheme, and it's something that modern-era gamers are seemingly missing out on in favor of more advanced control pads. Thankfully, there's still a viable market for older, retro-inspired controllers, and X-Arcade has a new one for those looking to re-live their glory days. The company's Solo Joystick is now available to pre-order, and will ship in early December. The company suggests that this one is impossible to destroy, making it... Read more...

Never had the opportunity to try out for the Air Force? Didn't bother to go to flight school when you were younger? It's not exactly easy to get into a airplane's cockpit these days, but Thrustmaster's new joystick may have you believing otherwise. The HOTAS WARTHOG is aiming to be the most realistic flight sim joystick on the market, and it has a lot going for it. It's definitely not just another stick; the build materials are above average, you've got more buttons than you'll probably know what to do with and a price tag that will keep away all but the hardcore flight sim gamers. The reason this... Read more...
GameCrush, which has been in private beta testing since March of this year, has gone live. It's an obvious idea since most gamers are men: get them to pay to hook up online with attractive women and use their joysticks, er, play video games with them. To be clear, the PlayDates, as they are called, can be men or women. They can make as much as $20 an hour, according to the site's press release. Meanwhile, gamers, seeking to play (ahem) with these PlayDates pay $0.60 a minute. Additionally, developers of games used on the site get rev share, as well. In addition to securing a live one-on-one gaming... Read more...
Over in Los Angeles, Logitech is getting in on the E3 action by introducing an all new flight stick that's definitely one of the most realistic we've ever seen. The Flight System G940 is far more sophisticated than the joysticks of yesteryear, and it's actually the company's first-ever stick with force feedback. If you're doubting the authenticity of this, have a listen: the design and controls were inspired by military and commercial planes and helicopters.Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming, is clearly proud of the new development: "There’s nothing ordinary about... For those of you that jump right to the news, I'm here to let you know that we've just posted a new review of XGaming's very cool, very retro, X-Arcade Dual Arcade Joystick. Just seeing this thing takes me back to my early teens when I spent each summer working in an arcade in a local amusement park.  And after reading Rob's review, I'm SOOO getting one to connect to the home theater PC. Playing Mr. Do, Galaga and Street Fighter II on the big screen is going to rock!... Read more...
"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", at least that's what Jack Torrance (Nicholson) in "The Shining" told us. What he was trying to say is that we all need a break from the usual grind every now and then.  Even here at HotHardware, where we're usually knee-deep in testing motherboards, video cards, and the like, once in a while something comes along that really grabs our attention, even if it is a little bit off of the usual radar.  We were actually a bit excited when we were asked to review the X-Arcade Joystick and we thought that you, our faithful readers,...
