Intel Capital, the chip giant’s global venture-capital arm, has just announced the creation of a $300 million dollar fund devised to help accelerate the development of “ultrabooks” and adjacent innovations. As with all rumors, take the following story with a grain of salt until we receive official confirmation or denial from AMD.Rumor has it that AMD might receive some sort of financial bailout from the Middle East.  At this time there is no word on who is allegedly offering to help out, or what kind of stake in the company they'll be given.“This move, if and when it happens, will relieve AMD of a pile of debts it owes, and give it the space, time and money to open a new fab in Malta, New York State, because the company have plans to go for that, big time.”... It appears that 50-year old industrial-supply company Systemax, parent of TigerDirect is drawing a lot of negative heat these days over their rebates.  Here's an example of a deal and the problem: A 17” ViewSonic Monitor going for $139.99 sounds great.“But you'd have to read the small print to learn that TigerDirect's quoted price assumes you collect the $50 manufacturer's rebate. The Attorney General of New York has issued subpoenas to Intel, seeking information about whether Intel unlawfully compelled their customers to exclude rival AMD from the market for certain computer chips. At issue in Cuomo's probe is whether AMD has a fair chance to supply its X86 computer processing units for desktop and laptop computers and servers. EE-Times reports that Intel has invested $12 million dollars to fund the efforts of the Isreali graphics startup Lucid Information Technology. The startup's main focus is currently on a graphics acceleration traffic organizing chipset which will offer support for up to 4 discrete GPU's.
