When Aaron Rasmussen, founder of Protagonist LLC and maker of the Atlas real-space virtual reality machine, says that this is “year zero of virtual reality”, he has a point. Between the fundraising success of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset (as well as support from developers and the likes of Valve) and intriguing related projects such as the Omni multidirectional VR treadmill, it’s been a groundbreaking time for the evolution of gaming. Rasmussen’s company is seeking funds on Kickstarter for a virtual reality product called Atlas that maps and “paints”... Read more...
Razer's more typical controllers are easy to describe: mice, keyboards and joysticks usually comprise the company's line. But the Hydra is something entirely different. It's a new set of motion sensing controllers, and while they were announced first a few months back, they're just now being put on sale. Naturally, the timing here is perfectly place; they'll be available as a standalone product or alongside Portal 2, which is storming the digital shelves right now. Razer worked closely with Valve and Sixense to build these, particularly the exclusive Portal 2 content that showcases the power of... Read more...

About a year ago, semiconductor startup Lucid Logix began making waves in the graphics space with claims of being able to revolutionize multi-GPU computing, promising consumers the ability to pair any graphics card, unrestricted by model or vendor, to another card and achieve highly efficient load balancing with near linear performance increases. This option presumably provides consumers the flexibility to buy an ATI graphics card, install it next to an NVIDIA model on the same motherboard, and see a boost in graphics rendering performance close to the sum of both individual components. We recently... Read more...

When we think about ECS and their product lines, we typically expect a budget-minded approach. Solid products at reasonable prices that don't exactly wow the consumer, but don't hit them hard in the wallet either. The ECS X48T-A motherboard that we looked at a few weeks ago was one of the first steps by ECS to change that image, although a few missteps with the construction as well as some overclocking issues didn't overly sway us to their new way of thinking. Thus, we were a bit surprised when we first heard about the ECS GeForce 9800 GTX+ Hydra - a twin pack of high-end graphics cards consisting...
