In a surprising turn of events, NVIDIA-built graphics cards have begun popping up at Best Buy stores across the nation. This is decidedly odd for a company that's made billions of dollars designing GPU products while leveraging board partners to bear the cost of manufacturing and marketing them, but NVIDIA confirmed that this new Best Buy partnership is a new direction for the company. "NVIDIA and Best Buy are working together to offer PC customers the opportunity to experience firsthand the latest in PC technologies right inside Best Buy stores," a company representative said. "As part of this... Read more...
A few months back NVIDIA "released" the GeForce GTS 250 priced at just around $150. The reason behind the quotations in the previous statement is that the GTS 250 is not exactly something new. While a lot of NVIDIA's R&D dollars have gone into their higher-end products such as the GTX 285 and GTX 295, to satisfy their mid-level needs they turned to an old stand-by: rebranding a previously higher-end card. In the case of the GeForce GTS 250, we're pretty much looking at the same specifications that we saw with the GeForce 9800 GTX+, with a 1GB frame buffer being the only major difference (and... Late last year, NVIDIA released a pair of new 8800-series graphics cards based on their G92 GPU.  The new cards were designed to keep NVIDIA's products at the top of the food chain at their respective price points, while also being a bit more affordable.  The first of the two was the GeForce 8800 GT.  It brought high-end performance to the mainstream crowd mostly due to its 112 stream processor configuration and 65m G92 GPU.  The G92's shrink to 65nm from TSMC's 90nm process used with the G80, brings with it lower power... NVIDIA’s G80 GPU has been sitting atop the 3D graphics food chain for well over a year now.  It was way back in November of ’06 that the GeForce 8800 GTX and original 640MB GTS arrived – the first two graphics cards based on the G80 GPU.  Sometime later, the more affordable 320MB GeForce 8800 GTS and current flagship GeForce 8800 Ultra arrived, but these two cards are based on the same GPU that powers NVIDIA’s initial 8800-series offerings. Obviously, even though NVIDIA’s products still clearly outperform ATI’s at the high-end, it’s time for a refresh, if just to keep things exciting... Read more...
NVIDIA is updating its product stack again this morning, this time with a newly designed GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB card based on the 65nm G92 GPU.  This new GTS features 128 stream processors, up from 96 in the original GTS, but its memory bus width has been cut down to 256-bits.  This new configuration gives the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB an interesting performance profile.  We’ve got a couple of retail-ready GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB cards in the labs from Asus and XFX and put them through the wringer with some current DX10 titles.  Click the link below and check them out...NVIDIA GeForce... Just about four and a half years ago, a company started by ex-Visiontek executives entered the already crowded graphics card market with the hope of capturing the enthusiast and hardcore gaming audience. The plan was to factory overclock many of their products, offer a life time warranty, and have a dedicated 24/7 technical support staff ready to answer any questions or troubleshoot any problems end users may encounter throughout the life of their cards. Fast forward to present day, and BFG is well respected in the enthusiast and gamer communities, and in addition to their top to bottom... Read more...

Today's announcement by NVIDIA should come as no surprise to PC enthusiasts. The company's modus operandi has been to launch a new flagship GPU and over the course of the next year or so scale back the design to flesh out a complete top-to-bottom line-up of products, all with essentially the same feature set. We saw this scenario play out with the GeForce 6 series, which began with the high-end GeForce 6800 Ultra and ended with the GeForce 6100 series IGPs. The GeForce 7 series too began its life with the GeForce 7800 GTX and is now comprised of a whole host of products at various... Read more...
