We took a close-up gander at some of MSI's new laptops this week at CES and two caught our eye. The MSI GT70 Dragon Edition is turning heads (and snagged a CES Innovations award) for its bright-red chassis, which sports dragon engravings. The $2699 system has a 17.3-inch, 1920x1080 screen and boasts an Intel Core i7-3630QM processor. Other features to note include Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M graphics, as well as Killer technology for wireless (N1202) and LAN (E2200). MSI introduced the GT70 gaming notebook with Intel's 3rd generation Core i7 quad core processor and Nvidia's GeForce GTX 680M discrete graphics card. Nvidia's flagship GeForce GTX 680M is touted as the fastest and most powerful discrete graphics card available. This GPU features 1,344 CUDAs (Compute Unified Device Architecture) as well as Optimus display switching technology. If you’ve been holding your breath waiting for MSI to add NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M graphics capabilities to its GT70 gaming notebook, you can exhale. This update rounds out the powerful specs on the GT70, which also include an Intel Core-i7 3610QM processor, Intel HM77 chipset, 12GB or 16GB of DDR3 memory, and Killer E2200 Game Networking, and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink media card reader. MSI is busting out some spec-heavy gaming notebooks with the GT70 and GT60 series. The notebooks pair the Intel HM77 chipset and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M graphics and rely on an Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.3-3.3GHz) processor for most of the systems’ horsepower. The systems also feature Killer E2200 Game Networking Gigabit LAN, Steel Series full-color backlit programmable keyboard, speakers with a subwoofer and THX Surround Sound, WiFi, card reader, HDMI 1.4a, and a 720p HD webcam (nice!). These laptops feature Intel’s Core i7 quad-core processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M discrete graphics with 3GB of GDDR5 of display memory, the Super RAID Dual SSD, up to 32GB of memory, Bigfoot Gaming LAN, and a SteelSeries gaming keyboard.
