Corsair has thrown its hat into yet another ring; the company announced a new line of cooling fans, each with its own dedicated purpose. There are fans in the line designed for low and good airflow; high airflow; low noise and high airflow; low noise and high pressure; and high pressure. Corsair designed the fans from scratch, testing its own blade designs and looking for ways to tailor airflow for various situations and system configurations. Its Airflow Performance fans have thinner blades, and the Airflow Quiet versions run at a lower RPM; the Static Pressure models have thicker (and fewer)... Read more...
Next to power supplies, computer case fans are arguably the least glamorous part of a PC build. Granted, some ship with flashing LEDs, and there was a time when laser cut fan grills were all the rage, but for the most part, they just sit there largely unseen, spin around all day long, and thanklessly keep your computer parts nice and chilly, or least prevent them from overheating to the point of failure. That's what they're supposed to do, anyway, and some of them can't help but be obnoxiously loud. Fractal Design's new Silent Series R2 fans, on the other hand, are designed to quietly cool your... Are there any fan aficionados in the crowd? Anyone? That's okay, because even if you don't fancy yourself a fanatical fan of, uh, fans, MSI makes some mighty interesting claims about its exclusive Propeller Blade technology that all cooling aficionados should read, which we suspect represents a much larger number. In a document explaining its Propeller Blade technology, MSI claims the unique design lends itself to 20 percent more airflow and wider vent angles compared to standard fan designs. The end result is a reduction in temperatures of up to 21 degrees, thereby extending the life of the hardware,... Read more...
Heat is always a concern for any power system builder. To help meet the thermal dissipation demands of power users, MSI introduced its Twin Frozr thermal design. We originally learned about the Twin Frozr cooling system when it was first introduced with the N285GTX SuperPipe in March. Now, MSI is pushing the cooling system into the spotlight again by calling it one of the best designs available on the market today. According to MSI, what makes the Twin Frozr so special is its combination of fans, base, and heatpipes. Resembling a turbo-propeller fighter concept, the Twin Frozr’s two fans are said... Innovation seems to be sporadic at best in the PC case market. We tend to see many more copycats and trend followers than trendsetters. Several true innovators come to mind, though, when we think about cases, and one of those innovative companies is Cooler Master. Sure, not every case designed by Cooler Master is a massive success or appealing to everyone, but it is one of the companies that the copycats watch and imitate. As a result of its innovation and success, Cooler Master is a proven and trusted brand and has been for quite some time. Cooler Master recently sent us a new full tower chassis... Read more...
Despite the fact Hannah Montana isn't a real person, her tickets are hot, hot, hot.  Hot enough to even be mentioned on TV shows like Without a Trace, and hot enough to sell out, with some programmatic assistance.Amid an uproar over the huge demand for seats to pop idol Hannah Montana’s tour, a U.S. federal judge on Monday barred the use of automated software to make mass ticket purchases from the leading box-office service Ticketmaster.U.S. District Court Judge Audrey Collins issued a preliminary injunction against Pittsburgh-based software maker RMG Technologies, whose computer programs,...
