Any Apple users remember Sanho? They're the ones who brought the HyperMac battery packs for Apple iDevices to market, and now they've come out with a product sporting a bit more mass appeal. It's called the HyperDrive, and it's the world's first (and naturally only) external hard drive that can plug directly into the iPad, no PC required. The HyperDrive adds up to 750GB of additional storage to supplement that suddenly paltry 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of internal storage your stock iPad shipped with. That in itself is pretty rad, but the HyperDrive kicks it up a notch by including two memory card slots... Read more...

It's a chicken-before-the-egg type of scenario. Peripheral companies don't want to support USB 3.0 before USB 3.0 is widely adopted, and PC makers don't want to jump on the USB 3.0 bandwagon before there are a suitable amount of USB 3.0 accessories on the market. Now, the company is branching its design efforts out once more thanks to a partnership with Philippe Starck. It's tough to say why snazzy storage is attractive; after all, it's just a hard drive/DVD burner.
