Today, Dell announced two new 4G capable devices. First up is the Streak 7, an Android 2.2-powered tablet with connectivity to T-Mobile’s 4G network. The Streak 7 features an NVIDIA Tegra dual-core processor along with a 7-inch multi-touch screen and support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1. In addition to 4G connectivity, the Streak 7 will have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Front- and rear-facing cameras are included as well. VIZIO announced its new line up of LED TVs with models ranging from 16- to 71-inches. Among the new models are two Cinema HDTV LED models with a 21:9 Cinema aspect ratio, Theater 3D, and VIZIO Internet Apps. Select models in the E and M series and the entire XVT series feature VIZIO Theater 3D, a technology that uses a circular polarized filter to eliminate the need for batteries and shutter mechanisms in Theater 3D eyewear. Samsung launched a new digital camera with Wi-Fi capabilities. The new SH100 is a 14.2 megapixel compact camera that can wirelessly connect to other devices such as your Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S smartphone. By pairing your devices, you'll be able to use your phone as a remote control or a remote viewfinder before snapping a photo. You can also use your phone's GPS capabilities to geotag photos. Verizon is about to test a smart-home automation system that uses its FiOS network in some New Jersey homes. The management system is simply known as Home Monitoring and Control. As you might expect, the system provides real-time access to home controls such as lighting, security cameras, locks, and thermostats. Using the system, you can also control appliances and various consumer electronics devices that are connected to the home network. Verizon plans to demo the smart-home system at CES in January. This is the time when companies gather to show off their new and upcoming products, and you can bet we'll be in attendance.
