We have the feeling that Activision Blizzard wasn’t anticipating that backlash that came with the announcement of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in May of last year. However, once the initial trailer for the game popped up on YouTube, the venom flew furiously at the thought of not only taking combat into space, but also messing around with gameplay mechanics. The Moonraker-esque battles in the trailer lead gamers to launch a massive “dislike” campaign on YouTube (as of today, the reveal trailer has 3.4 million dislikes compared to 567,000 likes). So, what is Activision Blizzard to do in... Read more...

Call of Duty might not be the biggest name in eSports, but its popularity is nonetheless huge and it has the potential to become even bigger. Will Infinite Warfare help that? It's really hard to say at this point, but Sony and Infinity Ward seem very keen on pushing it as hard as they can. At PlayStation Experience, which takes place on December 3rd and 4th, eight teams will compete in an invitational using Infinite Warfare. Those teams include Splyce, Team Elevate, Rise Nation, Faze Clan, Luminosity Gaming, Orbit, Renegades, and Evil Geniuses. And as you'd expect, if you can't watch the action... Read more...
If your brain hasn't already shut down from the sheer amount of details to come out of this year's E3, then here's something else to shove down your gullet: a new Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer. Let's state the obvious: Call of Duty trailers are never received well by those who love to troll. Even those who wouldn't have played the game anyway love to jump in and toss in their ridicule. It's a bit odd, but it is what it is. The backlash led the original trailer release to score a staggering 2.8 million dislikes at YouTube, versus its 460 thousand likes. That caused Activision's CEO to come... Read more...
Sun Tzu in his work The Art of War claimed that a warrior should always know their enemy, however he probably did not anticipate anyone screaming at each other through a headset and a computer monitor. Regardless, Infinity Ward just released a a new trailer, in a similar vein, entitled “Know Your Enemy” for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.  Infinity Ward first announced the game in late March. They stated that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare would examine space combat in a "full on sci-fi" setting in the "very far future". Previous Call of Duty games explored futuristic topics, in particular... Read more...
When can you pretty much guarantee that the multiplayer part of a certain game is more popular than its single-player campaign? When the publisher decides to release an MP-only "starter pack", of course. That's exactly what Activision has just done with Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It's no secret that the Call of Duty series is one of the most popular destinations for gaming on Earth, with each release selling in quantities that are enviable by every other developer and publisher out there. So why, then, would Activision risk hurting its sales by releasing an MP-only pack? By stripping many features... Read more...
If you need any further confirmation that the Call of Duty is still serious business for Activision Blizzard, look no further than these latest figures that are rolling in regarding the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The game managed to generate in excess of $550 million worldwide within three days of its launch. Activision Blizzard proudly proclaimed that its three-day tally allowed it to become the biggest entertainment launch of 2015, surpassing that of Jurassic World. However, that’s not exactly fair, given that each copy of Black Ops III costs at least $59.99, far surpassing the price... Read more...

While Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare might not be the best-selling CoD ever, the general consensus seems to be that it offers the freshest multiplayer experience we've seen from the series in quite some time. That's something I'd agree with - it's packed to the gills with features, and who doesn't love that super jump? Admittedly, some might find AW's multiplayer to be a bit too extensive sometimes, which is why the just-released 'One Shot' mode might come as a refreshing addition. At least for those who love hiding behind a sniper rifle. With One Shot, everyone is equipped with the same MORS bolt-action... Read more...
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is another success story for Activision. The latest installment has helped advance the franchise to grossing $10 billion in sales to date and, according to Activision, Advanced Warfare is the number one best-selling console game for this year in the U.S. While the latest Call of Duty game continues the trend of being one the year’s biggest sellers, Advanced Warfare also continues the trend of declining sales numbers over the past couple of years for the franchise. According to Edward Williams of BMO Capital Markets, the sales numbers for Advanced Warfare... Read more...

The Call of Duty series might not be for everyone, but every time Activision releases a new live-action video, I feel like it'd be a movie that many people would enjoy. They're simply well-put-together, and fun. The latest one, for Advanced Warfare, is no exception. Called "Discover Your Power", this video showcases many of the abilities and items you'll have at your perusal, such as super jumping, on-the-fly ziplines, threat grenades, and also vehicles. Here's what Activision has to say about the video, "Suit up and unleash the raw power of the advanced soldier in the live action trailer for Call... Read more...
Last month, we were given a quick preview of what to expect from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer, and given the introduction of a power jump, it became clear that the game wasn't going to be typical CoD fare. With the just-released "deep dive" trailer, we can really see that this is the case. In fact, multiplayer in Advanced Warfare is so different from previous titles, that diehard fans might even have trouble warming up to it. For starters, a major mechanic in Advanced Warfare is "Boost", which consists of Jump (which we talked about in the last post), Dodge, Slide, Dash, and Slam.... Read more...
