Sun Tzu in his work The Art of War claimed that a warrior should always know their enemy, however he probably did not anticipate anyone screaming at each other through a headset and a computer monitor. Regardless, Infinity Ward just released a a new trailer, in a similar vein, entitled “Know Your Enemy” for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.  Infinity Ward first announced the game in late March. They stated that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare would examine space combat in a "full on sci-fi" setting in the "very far future". Previous Call of Duty games explored futuristic topics, in particular... Read more...
When can you pretty much guarantee that the multiplayer part of a certain game is more popular than its single-player campaign? When the publisher decides to release an MP-only "starter pack", of course. That's exactly what Activision has just done with Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It's no secret that the Call of Duty series is one of the most popular destinations for gaming on Earth, with each release selling in quantities that are enviable by every other developer and publisher out there. So why, then, would Activision risk hurting its sales by releasing an MP-only pack? By stripping many features... Read more...
If you need any further confirmation that the Call of Duty is still serious business for Activision Blizzard, look no further than these latest figures that are rolling in regarding the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The game managed to generate in excess of $550 million worldwide within three days of its launch. Activision Blizzard proudly proclaimed that its three-day tally allowed it to become the biggest entertainment launch of 2015, surpassing that of Jurassic World. However, that’s not exactly fair, given that each copy of Black Ops III costs at least $59.99, far surpassing the price... Read more...
The latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise is set to launch in later this year, and the gaming community is eagerly awaiting its arrival. The official launch date for Call of Duty: Black Ops III is set for November 6th, and it’s bound to be another sales blockbuster (like the previous entries in the franchise). To take advantage of the huge hype surrounding the upcoming title and the enthusiasm generated by the eSports realm in general, Activision has announced that it will create the Call of Duty World League. Thankfully, Activision is dividing the Call of Duty World League by offering... Read more...
While Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare might not be the best-selling CoD ever, the general consensus seems to be that it offers the freshest multiplayer experience we've seen from the series in quite some time. That's something I'd agree with - it's packed to the gills with features, and who doesn't love that super jump? Admittedly, some might find AW's multiplayer to be a bit too extensive sometimes, which is why the just-released 'One Shot' mode might come as a refreshing addition. At least for those who love hiding behind a sniper rifle. With One Shot, everyone is equipped with the same MORS bolt-action... Read more...
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is another success story for Activision. The latest installment has helped advance the franchise to grossing $10 billion in sales to date and, according to Activision, Advanced Warfare is the number one best-selling console game for this year in the U.S. While the latest Call of Duty game continues the trend of being one the year’s biggest sellers, Advanced Warfare also continues the trend of declining sales numbers over the past couple of years for the franchise. According to Edward Williams of BMO Capital Markets, the sales numbers for Advanced Warfare... Read more...
The Guinness World Records 2015 Gamer’s Edition was released on November 6 for gamers who might be curious as to the longest gaming session, which franchise has earned the most in gross sales, or just basic facts and figures related to gaming. One particular topic that tends to generate discussion is what game franchise is the best. For Guinness, Activision’s first-person shooter franchise, Call of Duty, beat out other franchises, such as Grand Theft Auto and Mario Bros, to be named the best franchise ever. “More than 5,000 fans of the book from 140 countries across the world... The Call of Duty series might not be for everyone, but every time Activision releases a new live-action video, I feel like it'd be a movie that many people would enjoy. They're simply well-put-together, and fun. The latest one, for Advanced Warfare, is no exception. Called "Discover Your Power", this video showcases many of the abilities and items you'll have at your perusal, such as super jumping, on-the-fly ziplines, threat grenades, and also vehicles. Here's what Activision has to say about the video, "Suit up and unleash the raw power of the advanced soldier in the live action trailer for Call... Read more...
Last month, we were given a quick preview of what to expect from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer, and given the introduction of a power jump, it became clear that the game wasn't going to be typical CoD fare. With the just-released "deep dive" trailer, we can really see that this is the case. In fact, multiplayer in Advanced Warfare is so different from previous titles, that diehard fans might even have trouble warming up to it. For starters, a major mechanic in Advanced Warfare is "Boost", which consists of Jump (which we talked about in the last post), Dodge, Slide, Dash, and Slam.... Read more...
When it comes to lucrative game franchises two of the most well-known ones happen to be Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto. Activision publishes the CoD franchise while Take-Two Interactive is responsible for publishing GTA. However, there are rumors floating around that Activision might be trying to purchase Take-Two. Speculation began when a research note from Benchmark analyst Mike Hickey talked about “an emerging romance” between both companies. Hickey said, “For Activision, acquiring Take-Two Interactive would be a no-brainer, in our view, circling some of the strongest development... Read more...
We were given our first preview of Sledgehammer Games' second Call of Duty title, Advanced Warefare, back in May, so to say a multiplayer preview is a little overdue at this point would be a huge understatement. Well, that preview is here, and it comes to us in the form of a trailer. It looks like CoD fans are going to get a lot more of what they love, while CoD haters will get more fuel for their fire. Like CoD: Ghosts, Advanced Warfare will have evolving levels, usually caused by something catastrophic, like an explosion, or a barrier breaking and letting an ocean's worth of water through. I... The first images of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hit the Web yesterday, in advance of what was supposed to be a proper unveiling this coming Sunday. Activision decided to pull the trigger early, however, and we're glad it did: Advanced Warfare could be the best Call of Duty title we've seen in quite some time. Like Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare (these names bleed creativity, don't they?) is developed by Sledgehammer Games, and it's set to launch on November 4th. At this time, there doesn't seem to be a finalized list of supported platforms, and judging by the fact that the game's official... Read more...
The first of four pieces of DLC to hit Call of Duty: Ghosts is due out at the end of the month (28th for Xbox, later for other platforms), and Activision wants to make sure you understand what makes it so epic. This first DLC is called "Onslaught", and consists of four brand-new multiplayer maps, the first installment of the episodic narrative "Extinction", and a new Maverick rifle that doubles as an assault / sniper rifle. If you're a big gamer, you've no doubt found yourself in a situation where you want to game, but are unable to due to that hassle we call "real life". You might need to go to... Read more...
