Nokia may not be giving Symbian their full faith and support, but there were obviously a lot of Symbian phones in the pipeline prior to the mega announcement earlier in the year to switch over to Windows Phone 7. Two of those phones are now shipping. Nokia's E6 and X7, described as the first Symbian Anna phones, are now shipping. The X7 will be available in Europe, Eurasia, China, India and other Asia/Pacific countries, while the E6 will be available in Europe, Eurasia, Asia/Pacific, as well as the Middle East and Africa. Naturally, North American isn't listed here. It's obvious that Nokia's focus... Read more...
HotHardware told you yesterday about the Associated Press' hardline approach to linking to their news service stories and excerpting their copy. AP seems a little sketchy about the way in which the doctrine of Fair Use is generally understood on the Internet. As if in an attempt to double down on what is fast becoming a public relations debacle for the news service, AP has a web form for bloggers to use when referring to AP news stories, and it's comedy gold. AP wants to charge you $12.50 to excerpt five words from their articles. The New York Times, an AP member organization, refers to this as... Read more...
Broadcom really isn't a sexy business. They supply Integrated Circuits for broadband communications. It is a big business, however; Broadcom had revenue of $3.67 billion in 2006, for instance. According to indictments handed down recently, various people at Broadcom backdated millions of stock options to raid company receipts for themselves and others, and Broadcom co-founder and former CEO Henry T. Nicholas figured you'd be more likely to do business with him if you were high and had a prostitute on each arm. A second, four-count indictment names only Nicholas, 48, and alleges that he maintained... Read more...

It is tough enough to get tickets for a top-flight concert under normal circumstances, but when some people are using bots to cut in line, should that practice be made illegal?IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ticketmaster earlier this year filed a federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles against RMG Technologies Inc., a small Pittsburgh-based company that runs TicketBrokerTools.com. According to papers filed with the lawsuit, RMG rents to scalpers software that can inundate Ticketmaster's computers with thousands of requests for seats, "in effect allowing them to cut in line," according to Joe... Ever wish you could help make a game based of you're own ideas?   Well, Acclaim's new project, currently code-named "Top Secret", is a 20,000 strong studio made up of volunteers.   They're making history not only as the largest studio ever, but also the first to enlist the aid of ordinary people just like you.  The project's goal, according to Dave Perry, a developer, is to produce a professional MMO game created by thousands of individuals each contributing what they can. If you believe the notion that we're not alone in the universe and are feeling the need to chat to some Aliens, Yahoo may be able to help. On October 25, they'll be beaming some info into space via laser from atop an ancient pyramid.  Sounds spooky.  "Mexico's Teotihuacan, once the center of a sprawling pre-Hispanic empire, is set to become the launch pad for an attempt to communicate with extraterrestrial life. Starting Tuesday, enthusiasts from around the world have a chance to submit text, images, video and sounds that... Read more...
