Late last week a Canadian wireless provider posted RIM's upcoming BlackBerry Curve 3G (previously known as the Curve 9300) for sale, and today Research In Motion (RIM) is making the device official. RIM's press release doesn't bring a whole lot to the table that wasn't already leaked, but the company did say the Curve 3G will ship with the BlackBerry 5 OS and will be upgradeable to BlackBerry 6, the upcoming OS that RIM hopes will put it back on the smartphone radar. "The majority of people in the worldwide mobile phone market have yet to buy their first smartphone and the BlackBerry Curve 3G is... Read more...
Hot on the heels of Computex 2009, luxury PC maker Maingear is launching a new system labeling it as "the world's greenest gaming PC". They're calling it the Ion Pulse - but it isn't Nvidia's Ion at all. With green being the flavour of the week - in more ways than one - Maingear chucked a Zotac mini-ITX coupled it with a Core 2 Duo or Quad (s-Series) processor and choice of single HDD or SSD storage. Memory is limited to two DDR2-800 slots, but Zotac says you could slip in a couple of OCZ's DDR2-1066 SLI-profile memory sticks, even though they aren't listed on Maingear's configuration options.... With all of the recent hoopla surrounding Intel and NVIDIA as of late, today's announcement may come as a bit of a surprise to many of you. Intel’s Core 2 Quad Q9300 has some rather large shoes to fill. This newly shipping, relatively low-cost quad-core processor from Intel is a replacement for their long-standing price to performance champ, the Core 2 Quad Q6600.  The Q6600 was the first quad-core in Intel’s arsenal which was actually affordable, and even today, it remains one of the best values on the market.  Not only is the Core 2 Quad Q6600 inexpensive for a quad-core CPU, but it is extremely overclockable and provides a significant amount of computing power for the dollar. Core 2 Quad Q6600’s are still in high-demand... Read more...
