As of today, Nvidia's second-generation of mobile, Fermi-based parts is complete--at least, in theory. The 570M and 580M will only be available from select OEMs (at least initially), with the 570M reportedly available "immediately" from MSI as a configuration option on the GT780R gaming notebook. Alienware M18X systems can be ordered today with a GTX 580M, but "should ship in a week or so." According to Nvidia, the two new high-end GPUs deliver both speed and more efficient power consumption. Hello Everyone. We've just finished putting NVIDIA's new $299 GeForce 7950 GT through the wringer, and have a fresh article on-line for your perusal. The card we looked at wasn't a vanilla reference card, however. Instead, XFX sent over a retail-ready GeForce 7950 GT 570M Extreme, complete with a dead-silent, passive cooler. Last week NVIDIA officially launched the $199 GeForce 7900 GS, and jointly announced the $299 GeForce 7950 GT.  In our coverage of the GeForce 7900 GS, we were able to reveal the 7950 GT's specifications and features, but were asked to reserve posting any benchmark results until the cards were made available.
