A new version of Apple's iTunes
is now available via OS X Software Update, and while it's a relatively small update in terms of the point release, it's monumental in the scheme of things. iTunes 10.1.2 isn't a major overhaul. The design looks about the same, and most of the functionality seems exactly as it was. So why update?
If you're planning on buying an iPhone
4 from Verizon next month, you'll have to update to this version before your phone will be able to sync with iTunes. Yes, iTunes 10.1.2 will forever be known as the first version of iTunes to cooperate with the Verizon iPhone. Other than that, Apple says that just a few minor bug fixes are included, but that's definitely beside the point. It's iTunes for your upcoming Verizon iPhone. If that doesn't get you excited, nothing will.
