Anyone have personal experience with iBUYPOWER? My own unscientific research (http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=ibuypower+rocks&word2=ibuypower+sucks) seems positive. |

I see water cooling as the next logical step in the advancement of technology for high end computers. Faster CPU's need to dissipate more heat and depend on normalized temps to function correctly, even if they're on smaller dies, using less power. Water cooling achieves this without undue noise and is effective as can be. As you know, the system that I won here on HotHardwre.com has an Asetek LCLC (low cost liquid cooling) water cooler on the CPU and it's keeping the i7 870 at under 50C no matter what I'm doing with the computer. The system is OC'd to 3.88GHz. So it works well. I have ordered the Corsair H50 Water cooler for my other system and it should be here next week. I expect good results with it on my Phenom-II 940 system. The Corsair branded cooler is made for them by Asetek and they are essentially identical hardware. I don't get into extreme Overclocking with my computers so I can't attest to these low cost water systems being sufficient for extreme OC'ing. Adding the requirement to cool your GPU and Chipset as well as your CPU and these units will probably fall short in this area. But they do cool the crap out of a cpu. |
