ZOTAC Intros Two New GeForce 9400GT Cards

Considering just how sluggish GPU sales have been and are expected to be throughout the first half of 2009, it makes sense to see ZOTAC aiming low. NVIDIA's GeForce 9400GT is far from being the most powerful card on the block, but it's close to being the cheapest acceptable one on the market today.

To that end, ZOTAC is introducing today its GeForce 9400GT Synergy Edition 512MB and GeForce 9400GT DDR2 1GB. Both units are obviously powered by a GeForce 9400GT graphics processor and feature DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.1 support alongside NVIDIA's CUDA processing technology. The former is a low-profile card, which offers performance similar to a standard height ZOTAC GeForce 9400GT DDR2 graphics card, all while arriving in a form factor suitable for SFF and HTPC enclosures. Interestingly, the card actually ships as a standard height board, but a pair of low-profile brackets "are bundled to convert the card for use in low-profile systems." As for the ZOTAC GeForce 9400GT DDR2 1GB, it's about as vanilla as a GeForce 9400GT can get, and of course, it arrives as a standard height card.

Both units ship with a 550MHz core clock speed, a 1,400MHz shader clock, 800MHz memory clock, dual-link DVI / TV Out / VGA outputs (with HDCP compatibility) and Vista Aero certification. Sadly, there's no price to share just now, but you can have a look at the detailed specifications and features below.

Would be great for HTPC. Though I still like the Galaxy low profile 9600gt, because the 9600gt is a good gamer card as well.
