What You've Been Waiting For: The Hello Kitty USB Drive

Just what the world has been waiting for: A Hello Kitty designer flash drive.

Mimoco has been creating character-based USB flash drives in its Mimobot line. Favorites from Star Wars, Halo and other characters in the geek pantheon are staples of the line. Starting next month, Hello Kitty and her friends will join Darth Maul, Han Solo and Master Chief.

For Hot Hardware readers who are unaware of the popular cartoon cat from Japan, she turns 35 this year. The Mimobot line with Sanrio, HK's creator, will start with the Hello Kitty x Mimobot, but then expand to include her friends Badtz-Maru, My Melody, Kuromi, Keroppi, Cochocat and TuxedoSam. The drives will range from 2GB to 16GB and also will be bundled for sale with the mimoDesk suite to include wallpapers, screensavers, icons, avatars, videos and "other digital surprises."

"We're honored to be amongst those licensees celebrating Hello Kitty's big party!" Mimoco CEO Evan Blaustein said. "We couldn't be happier to combine the sweet, cute, friendly and legendary Japanese icon with our data hungry MIMOBOT fiends and flash drive platform."

Hello Kitty's actual birthday is Nov. 1 and the entire line should be out by then.
