Voyager Mobile: A New Contract-Free Carrier

Voyager Mobile: A New Contract-Free Carrier

What if your mobile carrier were a company you actually trusted and liked? Most folks in the U.S.A. would scoff at such a notion, but we can't fault newcomer Voyager Mobile for trying something radically different. The company has announced a new MVNO plan that'll run on Sprint's nationwide network, with unlimited wireless plans starting at $19 per month -- "no contracts, credit checks, or gimmicks." Sounds like a familiar tune, for sure, but the real kicker is the launch of Voyager Rewards. It's a frequent talker program, which claims that "simply talking on the phone will reward you with points, which can be redeemed for airline miles, gift cards, phone upgrades, and free monthly service." The company is based in Knoxville, Tennessee but will obviously serve the whole nation; though, initially, it's rolling out "in select states." Looking for more details on yet another contract-free carrier? The site's up and running at www.voyagermobile.com.

Thank you for posting this. However, going to their site I receive the following message:

"During its Tuesday, May 15 launch, Voyager Mobile experienced a malicious network attack to its primary website: voyagermobile.com. Due to the network outage, Voyager Mobile is postponing its launch to a time and date in the very near future.

Our goal of low cost wireless service for all will not be undermined and we strive to continue the voyage for a better wireless world.

For further information, please email us at voyager.mobile@voyagertelecom.com"

Does not bode well for a startup.
