VIA Launches New Initiative to Drive Connected Client Computing in the Enterprise

VIA Technology Forum 2006 track to define strategies for overcoming today's enterprise computing challenges and highlighting the benefits of VIA Connected Client platforms

Taipei, Taiwan, June 5 2006 - VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced the VIA Connected Client Initiative designed to educate enterprise on connected client computing as a practical, cost effective solution to global I.T. management challenges; this will also be the focus of a dedicated technology track at this year's VTF, taking place in Taipei on Thursday 8th June.

Thin clients and other connected client devices leverage the infrastructure and security benefits of the server-based "software as a service" architecture to execute streamed applications and central data storage. This innovative and cost effective approach to network computing enables enterprise to simplify its I.T. infrastructure, improve manageability and strengthen data security, as well as realize greater ROI. Building on its strength as premier silicon provider to this market, VIA is taking a leadership role in promoting both the architecture and how VIA Connected Client platform solutions can further enhance the benefits and savings.

"We believe this will be a breakthrough year for connected client computing, as businesses look to replace their PCs while seeking more effective ways of combating the security nightmare and the problems of keeping their workforce connected," said Richard Brown, Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. "As the major silicon supplier to the world's top client vendors, including HP, Neoware and Wyse, VIA is strategically placed to drive connected client computing into the commercial world."
