Twitter Adds Video+Photo Search, MMS Support Coming

Twitter Adds Video+Photo Search, MMS Support Coming

Still using Twitter.com as your main portal into Twitter? You're now in the minority, but that's alright. Twitter's still looking out for you, with the introduction this week of Search+Photos. Now, when you search, you can find images as well as videos, instead of just tweets as before. The company's introducing a "completely new version of twitter search," which will deliver more relevant tweets, but will also also show you related photos and videos, right there on the results page.

And if you use this new version of Firefox with Twitter, you can type a #hashtag or @username directly into the address bar to go right to a search results page (try #idol) or someone's profile page (like @nba). Over the next few weeks, the company will be releasing a feature to upload a photo and attach it to your Tweet right from Twitter.com. And of course, you'll soon be able to easily do this from all of our official mobile apps. Photobucket will be the company hosting up those photos.

And since a great deal of Twitter users connect through MMS and SDS, Twitter's working with mobile carriers around the world so you can also send photos via text message (MMS). Definitely a great step in the right direction, and there's a video below showcasing the new tweaks.

This is pretty interesting, it's going to show thousands of pictures and videos relevant to what you search for.

However, is it going to be compatible with sites like TwitPic and YouTube?

i guess if you were looking to buy some thing this would be good or just wanted to see what some thing looked like

Bah more picture searching engines. I wonder how well their filters are going to work at filtering out mature photos.

I rarely even use Twitter so I guess I need to step my game up to understand how to use the changing trends of the changing times. I know my Mom has trouble with Facebook and computers in general and she is just the last generation of tech users; I don't know about everybody else in the world but I want to make full use of any technology that is relevant to me in the many years to come. Guess it's time to install a Twitter app on my phone and see if I find it useful.

the changing trends of the changing times.

Meh. The times have already changed 1 year ago. Billions of people are using both Twitter & Facebook combined; and there may even be more social networking tools up that may change the trends further.

Hell, I used to use Twitter alot but now I'm finding myself in a phase where I use it less. Also I barely use Facebook; yes I know of their privacy issues and how to sidestep them but I just don't feel the need to use it at the moment.

yep I sure looks like a step in the right direction and the interface should be simple enough and most likely to work rather well .It may be a trend I could see a lot of folks simply sharing .being able to search by pic and vids is definitely new rather than searching tweets.

"These features are what Twitter needed a long time ago. I'm a Facebook "Power" user, and FB is simply the best, but this will make me go back to at least spend a little more time Twitting"
