Turn Your Garmin GPS Into KITT For Just $10

Own a Garmin (or TomTom) GPS? In need of a laugh? If you have $9.95 and a love for 80s comedy, there's a solution waiting. The well-known Knight Rider really made famous talking cars, and most would say that no talking car on television or the silver screen has rivaled the original KITT. Even now, it's the talking car that everyone remembers, much like Mr. Ed is the talking horse that everyone remembers.

Now, KITT can be your car. In a way. There's no magic potion for converting your Camry into a TransAm with all sorts of futuristic gadgetry, but a new voice pack for Gaming navigation systems and the new Android-based Garminfone allows your navigation system to sound just like KITT. NavTones has just introduced a full licensed voice pack with the actual voice of William Daniels, who was the original vocal actor for the talking vehicle that helped make Knight Rider as memorable as it is.

Will Andre, CEO of Wanderlust Media, had this to say: "With our KITT Voice for Garmin GPS, we want to make millions of 1980's childhood dreams come true. We strove to replicate the envied relationship between human and machine made famous on Knight Rider, by randomizing the commentary coming out of the device to create a much more lifelike and dynamic driving experience."

The best part is that the voice pack has 700 names loaded in, so in many cases, it'll refer to the driver by their actual name. In addition, there are plenty of punch lines. Rather than simply saying "recalculating," it can say "If you're not going to listen to me, just turn me off." It's available to download right now from http://www.navtones.com/KITT, and if you're a fan of the original show, chances are you won't want to miss out on this.

Original Voice Actor, William Daniels, Reprises Iconic 80's TV Role at NavTones.com for Downloadable GPS Voice Directions

LOS ANGELES, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1982, Knight Rider stormed on to American television with Michael Knight and his talking vehicular sidekick, the Knight Industries Two Thousand, or 'KITT.' -  if you prefer.  NavTones™, the leading independent provider of celebrity and branded voices for GPS navigation systems, announces today the release of their exclusive KITT GPS Voice for Garmin nuvi portable navigation devices and the new Android-powered Garminfone from T-Mobile USA.  As an officially-licensed Knight Rider™ product from Universal Partnerships & Licensing on behalf of NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group, NavTones brings the legendary voice actor from the original television series, William Daniels, to reprise his role as the world's most popular TV car of all time and to give turn-by-turn directions some real personality.

"With our KITT Voice for Garmin GPS, we want to make millions of 1980's childhood dreams come true," says Will Andre, CEO of Wanderlust Media, adding, "so we strove to replicate the envied relationship between human and machine made famous on Knight Rider, by randomizing the commentary coming out of the device to create a much more lifelike and dynamic driving experience."   In typical KITT fashion, many lines are delivered with a humorous punch such as, "If you're not going to listen to me, just turn me off" in the event of a route recalculation.

"Knight Rider continues to be one of our most beloved retro properties and the KITT GPS Voice is proof that consumers can't get enough of it," said Calvin Lim, Director of Mobile Sales, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. "Having KITT virtually navigate you around town allows you to feel like Michael Knight every time you step in the car - minus the turbo boosts and oil slicks, of course."

PERSONALIZATION

For the first time ever, this is a GPS voice download that calls drivers (or passengers) by name.  Just as he did with Michael Knight in every episode of Knight Rider, KITT will address drivers by name throughout their ride to put them in the heart of the action on every trip.  Instead of being limited to 'Michael', however, users can select from more than 700 names.

RANDOMIZATION

Randomized KITT commentary incorporates technology developed by Garmin and provides nonstop fun for everyone in the car.  Once installed, drivers are treated not only to turn-by-turn directions in the voice of KITT, but also to exclusive randomized commentary to make even the shortest of trips fun and entertaining.

INSTANT DOWNLOAD

The KITT voice download is just US$9.95 at www.NavTones.com/KITT  and installs directly on to any compatible Garmin nuvi device worldwide in just a few simple clicks.  For a complete list of compatible devices, please check our website.

This... is totally worth it. I'd go out and buy it this minute, but of course I'd have to buy a Garmin GPS device first.

Also, a car.

One of my co-workers bought the actual KITT GPS system.  No upgrade.  This is the full on one with the red "sensor" that moves back and forth.  She was so happy when she bought it and was showing everybody while I'm sitting at my desk thinking, "You spent $200 on a toy and you don't even own a car!"

Wha? No KARR option?

KARR would be awesome, Peter Cullen who is also the voice of Optimus Prime and was the voice in the Intro & Outro on the original Knight Rider series.

How about an Optimus Prime voiced GPS?
