Tron Lifecycle is Real, and Really Rad

The young guns over at Evolve Motorcycles are garnering the lion's share of attention at this year's Milan International Motorcycle Show (EICMA), and that's because they had the audacity to roll out a real life replica of the Tron Lightcycle (renamed Xenon). This thing is seriously sick. It sports 32-inch hub-less wheels, lots of OLED light tape, and a funktastic design, all for 'just' $55,000.

The Tron Lightcycle is equipped with a 40kW (54 horsepower) motor and custom lithium ion battery that combined will allow the all-electric bike to reach up to 100MPH and travel up to 100 miles before needing to be re-juiced.

If living out a scene from Tron isn't your cup of grog, Evolve Motorcycles also has a lineup of more traditional bikes and scooters, including the Lithium, Titanium, Neon, and Helium.

HOLY EFFING AWESOME!!! And "all for 'just' $55,000"?? that's practically a steal for the die hard Tron fan!

I can see this being used for two purposes... Replicating your favorite Tron scene and pulling up in your favorite club while you spike your hair and wait flashy clothing; trust me, this thing is guaranteed to pop eyes from the local lifestyle people.

And Manduh, you're right. $55,000 is a steal; especially for one that manages to use a non conventional wheel (who's operation is a mystery to me) and still be drivable.

It most certainly is!! I mean for a serious (rich) 'fanboy' buyer. If there was a Batcycle around for that price I'm sure my bf would try to get a personal loan to buy one. The cheapest I have seen for a Batcycle though started at $100k on ebay (sold as a movie prop because it wasn't street legal, but was a working motorcycle!)

Honestly I would have expected it more than $55k

That would be too cool, and at 100 miles per charge would actually be useful too. You guys are right at 55k, I can see a bunch of these being sold, and if they could mass produce them at 30k look out.

Yeah I expected that to cost more. And 100 miles on one charge isn't bad at all. I'd buy it if I had a butt load of money.

Very cool looking though I think it would be wicked uncomfortable to ride:P I really woud like to know how the heck these wheels work.

Cool indeed, would i buy it? no, would look pretty awkward riding that around lol.

A 54 horsepower electric motor will have a lot of torque. It will get to that top 100MPH speed in nothing flat, I'll bet.

It'll be a wild ride for those that can afford to get them.

It is cool that it is electric as well. With the current status of stability creating (load/balance automation) such as in the 2 wheel scooter I could see something like this with an overhead cover as a viable and normal vehicle. The battery both in a usage and a charging spectrum for a lighter 2 wheel vehicle makes total sense. I could see these being popular and think of this you totally remove the cost of gas from your life at least predominately. Don't even give me the long distance argument because if your going long distance and gas is 3^ dollars a gallon it is cheaper to fly than it is to drive.

@rapid1 Plus it's highly noticeable... I mean if your driving with this thing at night with no lights around then the other drivers *will* notice you; you can wipe out the worry if you're driving in complete pitch darkness or wearing all black clothing.

"I thought it was just a non *full* working replica too. Looks great, though I still prefer the Batcycle from the Dark Knight, there's a replica out there that's tuned and refined to handle better than the original, the guy did and excellent job."

I get your point Taylor but think of a vehicle like this with horizontal stability mechanisms and GPS routed auto mapping throw in some voice software and put a top or outer shell on it you have an exceptionally safe automated energy conservative and cool looking vehicle that is as safe as being inside a moving ground based vehicle is and in many ways is almost if not fully automated.

Well since this site is called Hot Hardware, and this bike is certainly hot hardware, I think a review is in order! lol

Lightcycle! NOT "Lifecycle".

Lifecycle is a brand of exercise bike.

The article says Light, just the headline is incorrect, can't believe I didn't notice that before :s lol

I will have 1 of these.  Idk how, but I will, lol.  I MUST have it!!!  From the looks of it, it appears to be operated by electromagnetism.  That would make a lot of sense too.  Strange that they didn't add a way for the friction to help recharge the battery, but whatever.
