Super Talent Touts New MasterDrive KX3 SSD for Ultrathins and Tablets

Laptops like the MacBook Air and Samsung Series 9 are redefining what it means to be a thin and light laptop, sort of in the same way Hollywood redefined what it meant to be skinny (only not as gross -- seriously, does anyone find Nicole Richie attractive anymore?). Combined with the emerging tablet market, there is a strong need for good solid state drives. Super Talent has noticed and aims to deliver with the release of its new MasterDrive KX3, a 1.8-inch solid state drive aimed squarely at thin notebooks and tablets.

"As laptops get thinner and lighter, the demand for smaller, thinner components follows suit," Super Talent states. "The fact that this product is also silent, more rugged, has better performance, and better battery life only adds to the allure of the mobile SSDs."

The MasterDrive KX3 measures 5mm thick and boasts read and writes speeds of up to 520MB/s and 140MB/s, respectively. Vendors can also order models capable of withstanding extended temperature ranges from -40C to 85C.

The drives are available now in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities.
