Sony Ericcson Goes Business With WinMo 6.5.3 Aspen Smartphone

Sony Ericcson Goes Business With WinMo 6.5.3 Aspen Smartphone

It's hard to guess how much traction Sony Ericsson's GreenHeart lineup will gather, but we have to admit that the newest member is a real looker. Atypical for Sony Ericcson, the Aspen is a business phone. Not a fashion phone. Not a clamshell phone. Not an Android phone.

It's apparently aimed for the corporate folks who have avoided the BlackBerry bug thus far, but we have to wonder just how big that segment still is. Anyway, SE talks up this phone's ability to "multitask," which is something the iPhone has been slammed for not supporting. This is also the first smartphone out to come pre-loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5.3, which is likely a stopgap version until Windows Mobile 7 arrives later this year (hopefully).

It also supports Office document editing and comes loaded with a-GPS, Google Maps, a 3.2MP camera, a full QWERTY keyboard (which is particularly unusual on an SE phone), PlayNow software for accessing music/apps, a media browser and a choice of colors (black/white or silver). It'll support AT&T's 3G bands but will likely be sold in unlocked form only when it ships in Q2.

Hmm... It looks kind of cool. However; it seems to me nothing different from anything else. It also seems to me definitely not anything to have anything distinguishing about it really either.

Energy efficient display, recycled plastics (including charger and box), power-saving mode, and lower emission manufacturing process...wow, I think my Prius just got green envy.

Looks like a decent enough, fully featured business phone, I doubt it's going to knock the iPhone off the top spot.

The GreenHeart initiative is nice, but I'm more interested in Samsung's new touch-embedded AMOLED panels. The capacitive touch sensors are just 0.001 mm-thick. Now that's decreasing your footprint!

Yeah the Amoled panels look sweet. I just remember the one time I had a Sony phone I hated it. I went back to Samsung and had that phone for a while. Now I am running the Env2 until April when I can upgrade.
