Shuttle Debuts XPC Barebone SX58H7 Case

You won't find liquid cooling here, but Shuttle's latest barebones kit is still mighty impressive. The small form factor (SFF) box has the potential to be just as powerful (if not more so) than many full sized towers, thanks mostly to the high-performance Intel X58 Express chipset with ICH10R Southbridge. Those looking for a potent LAN party box should give this one serious consideration, but only if you've got the wallet for it.

The XPC Barebone SX58H7 -- hailed as the company's "new flagship" -- comes ready for an Intel Core i7 processor and measures just 32.5 x 20.8 x 19 cm (LWH) in size. There's also room for two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 cards, meaning that you can load up to two graphics cards in a single-slot design or install a dual-slot graphics card. It can also hold up to 16GB of DDR3 memory in triple-channel mode (3+1), distributed over four memory banks. Somehow, Shuttle also made room for two SATA II HDDs, a 500-watt PSU and a nice array of ports within the all aluminum enclosure.

The case is expected to be available later this quarter, but the 483 Euro asking price (that's around $613) will probably stop all but the wealthiest gamers from picking one up. We guess there's a big premium to pay for smallness.
