Shooting Victim Saved As Samsung Galaxy Mega Takes A Bullet For Him

In the movie Rush Hour, Jackie Chan's character brags to Chris Tucker that his father once caught a bullet with his bare hands. That would be impressive if it actually happened, but to the best of our knowledge, Rush Hour is completely fictional. What isn't fictional, however, is that a Samsung Galaxy Mega phablet saved a man's life by doing what Jackie Chan's dad supposedly did -- catch a bullet.

Citing a Chinese language news report, 9to5Google says a man in Taiwan was shot in the chest during an altercation at a bar over a missing wallet. As the story goes, a man named Han found the troublesome wallet on the street and, in a moment of jest stated, "Free beer!"

The wallet's owner, Xu, didn't take kindly to the joke and whipped out a gun. Seeing the weapon, Han pulled out a sickle and lunged at Xu, who shot Han. The bullet went though Han's arm and was en route to his chest, but lucky for him, it hit his Galaxy Mega phablet that was sitting in his shirt pocket. It stopped the bullet, and likely saved the man's life.

Han is expected to fully recover, though his phablet is now dead, having unwittingly sacrificed itself to save its owner.

And if it was an old Nokia the bullet would have deflected back to the shooter! No, but seriously, "pulled out a SICKLE?!" The dude was just walking around with a sickle?!?

@altshep123

No joke. What on Earth was he doing with a sickle?:D Is that just the most mobile defensive weapon available in Taiwan?

This is an action movie moment. But who carries a sickle? If you are going to carry a weapon... It should be a gun.

Or a knife, a switch blade, or a baton. :D I just don't see how he was carrying it around. Was it supposed to be a concealed weapon? :D It's kind of hilarious, honestly.

Haha the sickle. I love that everyone's calling that out.

Thing is, doesn't it seem to be happening a lot more lately that phones are stopping bullets? My question is, are we just now hearing more about all these people that normally would get shot only because they happened to have a phone on them? People love shooting each other, thank God for our smartphones!

Reminds me of the story where the guy got shot in the chest area and his HTC saved him because the bullet stopped at the battery.

I think the military should take heed of these stories, and make bullet proof armor using phones.

Make vests that are just lined with Nokia phones.

It'd be so much cheaper than actual bulletproof vests (I'm guessing)

Hmmm, a unique solution to the massive waste problem caused by how fast hardware (especially phones) improve and then become obsolete. Send all that plastic and gorilla glass to your military and get a tax break!

Rose... you'll need to start carrying that in your shirt pocket. Lol

Samsung saving lives one at a time! :)

That sickle :) Guess a farmers choice lol

Ohh it went through his arm and then hit the phone. I know the phone alone wouldn't be able to stop it.

Damn. This even tops the tesla getting ripped in half as far as crazy stories go. You've gotta wonder how much of it is true; the man who saw someone pick up his wallet and make a joke seriously pulled a gun on him? That's a bit overkill.
