Samsung's Pixon12 Phone Packs 12MP Camera Sensor
We've known that the megapixel race was heating up in the cameraphone
arena, and with the introduction of this phone, we'd say the race is
approaching full speed. We've already seen a few 8MP cameraphones
released, but Samsung's 12MP Pixon12 is going to be the first 12MP
phone when it ships later this month. For those really following the
sector, you'll know that Sony Ericsson also has a 12MP handset on the
horizon, but Samsung is apt to beat SE to the punch in terms of actual
release.
More formally known as the M8910, the world's first 12 megapixel cameraphone packs a full touchscreen (3.1" AMOLED), a dedicated shutter button and fast image saving that enables users to fire off another shot within 2 seconds. There's also Auto-Focus tracking, a 28mm wide angle lens and one of the most advanced photo management software suites to ever be loaded onto a phone. Naturally, the Pixon12 provides an easy way for users to upload photos and videos to Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, MySpace and Photobucket, and the built-in 3G (HSUPA) access makes the upload process swift. Unfortunately, it will only be available at the end of the month in European countries, but we suspect Samsung will bring it stateside as soon as it can.
