Samsung Teases New Smart Hub HDTV Interface Ahead Of CES 2013

CES 2013 is just around the bend, and it looks like a couple of companies are getting that boll rolling sooner rather than later. Instead of waiting for the official show doors to open, Samsung is taking the wraps off of a few secrets ahead of time. Thanks to shots seen in its Flickr feed, which the company is known for updating regularly, it appears that a new Smart Hub is on deck for the annual Consumer Electronics Show. Smart TVs seem to be picking up steam, but none of the major players seem keen on coming together on a standard format. All that aside, the new version of the Smart Hub will seemingly tout a new and simplified user interface.

In fact, some of the layout reminds us a lot of Windows Media Center. It's unclear what kind of new hardware will ship alongside of the new software, but you could probably count on a slew of new HDTVs with 1080p panels, and perhaps a few more with 4K. It feels like we already had the year of HD, but maybe it's turning into a decade of HD instead.
