Samsung Announces Galaxy Tab 2s and Galaxy Players
Although it means that the number of Galaxy Tab iterations is ballooning to unprecedented levels, Samsung will be introducing the Galaxy Tab 2 to the market soon in 7- and 10.1-inch models.
The Galaxy Tab 2s appear to have incrementally better features than their respective predecessors, most notably in the area of the newer Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Both inherited the Peel Smart Remote software and IR blaster found on the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and both have dual-core processors and microSD slots for up to 32GB of additional storage.
Other features include GPS, stereo speakers, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 for connectivity.
The big news with these tablets, though, is the price: the big fella will go for $399 (available May 13), while the 7-incher comes in at a mere $249.99 (available April 22). In a world where the $200 tablet is a highly sought-after price point, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 should rock the boat quite a bit.

The Galaxy Player 4.2 and 3.6 run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and feature 8GB of built-in memory (with another 32GB possible via a microSD slot), 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, FM radio, an embedded mic, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The smaller Galaxy Player 3.6 has a mono speaker-plus-receiver, boasts 30 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video playback, and will cost $149.99. The 4.2 has stereo speakers with the receiver, promises 40 hours of audio and 5 hours of video, and will run you $199.
The former is available now, with the latter coming May 13.
