You know those times when you think: "Why didn't someone think of this earlier?" Yeah, this is one of those times
. MTV Networks and Harmonix have teamed up to show just how brilliant their respective marketing teams are by pushing Rock Band into a place that just seems so fitting: bars.
You heard right. Rock Band is stepping out of the living room and into the watering holes of the world starting this month, as the two companies have joined up to outfit bars with equipment to give tipsy patrons the ability to struggle through their favorite songs on "Easy" and spill booze all over plastic instruments.
The aptly named "Bar Nights" program offers support to registered bars with everything from exclusive Rock Band product offerings to multiplatform marketing support. Through an exclusive e-commerce store, the program will also provide bars with a full music solution to easily rock their bar with the extensive Rock Band catalogue featuring more than 800 tracks and growing every week. In order to jumpstart the initiative, the firms are giving bars that sign up before September 8th an exclusive five-song preview disc from The Beatles: Rock Band
, allowing their customers to experience the highly anticipated game before it hits stores on September 9th.
So, here's the real question--are you more likely to visit a bar with a Rock Band setup? If you're reading this, we're guessing the answer is "yes."
